I recently ended a fourteen-year relationship and decided to change my career to allow me to finish my novel and form my life around my "real writing." Maybe this is the work you are talking about? I've been volunteering also to teach underpriveleged children to read and write and explore their creativity. I fell very hard for someone new...who I think does not reciprocate my interest, but I've felt genuinely happy and open-hearted around him.

One question: is the "one I will be with" someone I have already met? Perhaps this man I'm so drawn to? Or someone new?

This is something that you need to follow your heart with, as far as your other half, the answers are always in the eyes, the doorway to the Soul...the person is interested in your work, helps you, encourages you...there is helpful a young child, very intelligent and very artisitic, even philisophical, hehe
is this yor child? If not, it is your other halfs child...
I still see endings coming up, coming right up, with new beginnings immediately following..
clues earth and air, also the person is very spiritual, advising you, you are teachers to each other....
your work is your God given talent-Gift...
and it will bring prosperity....

follow your heart, LOve is not made of logic and common sense, it is made of feelings and instinct, a knowing without logic, hehe

I would suggest asking for a donation is a reasonable thing to do, or you could look at it a different way. You say the sort of 'clients' you get are mostly women asking questions about men, who already know the answers deep in their hearts - they need the reassurance of your gift. Rather than charging for a 'reading', put a charge on your time.... if the min wage here is £7 per hour and you are with a person for an hour then charge them that, and that only. Equally, charge them only £3.50 for 30mins and so on. While this might seem like 'small change', you are at least putting a limit on the time these people take from your life by applying a charge, but that charge is not excessive. The point here being - 'I am not charging for sharing my gift, but I am charging for the time sharing it with you takes out of my life'.

This topic is one very much on my mind of late. I seem to get messages and nudges in the last year as I am (rather rudely ) plopped onto a new path. I'm on my way to being a Reiki II practitioner and plan to go on to be a Reiki Master. Astrology is another area I've study for many years and there are several other healing sorts of paths that pop up now and then. This is the path I am supposed to head down but who does one survive? I am a single mother who does not want to be on public assistance or living with my family so how exactly I am supposed to live and yet do what healing work needs doing I have yet to figure out. Personally I do not feel comfortable charging. My reiki lineage teaches the master level no charge so when the time comes I can charge an amount for Reiki I and II attunements, enough to cover costs of gas, rental space or whatever. All of my astrology work to date has been free of charge. Having been in tight financial places I know how much help it is when someone with little income for the "splurges" can find some guidance at no cost.

and that being said, should you ever have the time.....

I've charged for readings since 1991, and I've had nothing but marvelous things come into my life; and, I've been able to assist so thousands of people with major decisions!

It's a noble thought not to charge for readings. I didn't charge for readings for years at the beginning of my career -- because I was married to an extremely wealthy man. I did it out of joy, and let's see if this Science of Astrology is correct!

However, upon my divorce, I needed to supplement my income. I came to a major decision --- do I continue to assist people and charge them for the value I bring to their lives -- or, do I go do an executive job again, and not guide people AT ALL?

I talked it over with my daughter. An executive job meant to get up around 5 AM every morning and take her to the YMCA prior to school so I could be to work. Then pick her up at the YMCA at 6:30 and have barely any time with her every night. Or, stay at home with her, drive her to school and pick her up and have ton's of time with her and charge people for my gift. Just like a doctor charges for his gift after years of studying... just like a lawyer charges for his gift after years of studying. I studied for over 15 years before I had my first client. How did my first paying client come?

A world model & sister to a Miss America gave my name out and told the person how much I charged. You heard me... they told the person how much I charged! Should I not provide a reading and embarrass them? Or, should I just do the one reading and that would be that? I choose not to embarrass them and do the reading. Because they thought I needed to be helping people, and not just working in an executive job that I didn't have passion for. The Universe made it happen... then within a few weeks the Universe made it happen again, when Linda Goodman herself told a billionaire client that she wasn't feeling good enough to assist him.. and gave him my number. Linda didn't give instructions... she didn't call me and let me know she was going to do this... she didn't tell me I couldn't charge him... she just gave him my phone number and told him to call me!

So, I took it upon myself to make the decision that made the most logic to myself at the time. Charge for sessions. Thus, my daughter WON by having a mother there. My clients WON by having my guidance. My soul WON because I doing my passion.

I've always FELT STRONGLY... everyone has the god given right to make their OWN FREE WILL CHOICE. If Linda's free will choice was not to charge... god bless her... she made enough money from writing her wealth of knowledge into pages of books for us all to read.

Now, I have a question to put on the table.

Since people bought Linda's books... and were extremely guided by her knowledge. Wasn't she in some way PAID for her guidance. So, if that is logical, then why can't someone be paid for their guidance from providing a reading to someone?

There were many times in history when the healers of a community had all of their needs automatically taken care of by the members of their community out of respect for the role they played in the society. That is no longer the case at this point in history.

People have to remember that MONEY is energy. It is the agreed upon form of energy exchange of labor, goods and services. Attitudes need to change seriously about money and that it is not the root of all evil. The root of all evil, so to speak, is how people choose to express and use their own energies.

I've heard of certain healers and prognosticators who are more in tune with the rhythms of nature and the universe who will tell clients to throw a certain amount of money in the river as payment for the reading. That really works for them. A good twist on that would be to require someone to give the money to someone who is in dire need.

On the other hand, I am in dire need of paying my rent, feeding and clothing myself just like any other person on earth. Sometimes the energy someone puts out in reading and healing others is the equivalent in spiritual and mental powers to the man who digs ditches for a living. It takes a toll on you physically and mentally, so I can't believe that the question of being paid for these kinds of services still comes up. It is all merely energy exchange.

When I traveled in Asia.. .they read you.. and give to the monastery... or some charity (still energy of $$ being exchanged)...

India... again.. reading and then $$ to a cause at ashram ... Exchange of energy

Europe... reading... $$ for the grounds and community house fund...

Many spiritual communities are completely taken care of ... their housing... their food... their health... and they return by providing guidance and praying for the community and it's higher good...

In a few of the countries I visited... their psychics are "national treasures" you heard me... they are taken care of... housing.. food... sometimes people bring what they make.. candles... wine.. good.. clothes... and give as gifts... however, every need is supplied and the seer provides guidance in return. Return! There is the operative word... an exchange and return for what is received.

I do think its a little unfair if you recycle material or provide a reading where it's Level 1 Astrology. That has always bothered me because while I know some astrology, I also want someone else to read charts for me, too. But I don't want them to give me stuff I already knew. Yet, thats always the problem.. You get more information out of books that could be easily borrowed from a library or bought for .99 cents on eBay.

But that is just my experience. I would feel terribly uncomfortable to charge someone $300 for something so simple and small like a natal chart. Granted that reading natal charts can be grueling and timely work, especially if you come up with your own original material with refreshing notes and facts, but to me that's how I prefer to give when money is concerned.
