i have rider-waite cards but I cant hear myself through them. i am new to using tarot cards but just two weeks ago I misplaced my king of swords card and I dont think it will be showing up again sadly. i think i should buy a new deck that i can connect with or maybe i should just replace my current deck.IP: Logged |

Finding the right deck is a very intuitive process...no one can really recommend a deck that's right for you...it's all about the feeling YOU get working with the cards.I like the website http://www.facade.com/tarot/ It lets you get a free reading with one of 20 different decks, so you get a chance to see what the different decks look like from the privacy of your own home. Aeclectic Tarot http://www.aeclectic.net/tarot/cards/ lets you browse cards and reviews from 800 different decks, also free and from home. After some online searching, I would recommend going to a local shop that sells tarot cards that has a really good atmosphere...not a chain store. Hold the different decks of cards in your hands and see what feels right. Go with your intuition when buying a deck. It's a little like adopting a puppy or kitten from a shelter...you just "know" which one is yours. Get to a local library and check out every tarot book there--skim through them! Exposure to lots of books is more helpful and inspiring than reading just one or two good ones. That said, I love the book "The Heart of the Tarot" by Sandra Thompson. It focuses on learning the card meanings through a quick, useful two-card layout. Good luck!

------------------ "There is no use trying," said Alice; "one can't believe impossible things." "I dare say you haven't had much practice," said the Queen. "When I was your age, I always did it for half an hour a day. Why, sometimes I've believed as many as six impossible things before breakfast." Lewis Carroll IP: Logged |
