If you have a middle child (or middle children), how do you help them still feel loved and paid attention to?

I can tell that my middle's feeling a bit left out, so we've gone on Mommy/daughter dates and I make a point to just hang out and talk with her when the stars align and the baby's asleep and her older sister's busy with something.

This was us this morning:

(She's now coloring a glass window of ours for St Paddy's Day )

She's such a sweetie

It's tough on the middle child. But you are an excellent mother to realize this.

I'm the oldest of three sons. I was pressured to succeed, the youngest was babied, and the middle child was largely ignored.

Middle child here...my elder sister was pressured to succeed and pampered to an extent she grew sickeningly use to winning at everything and getting what she wants...youngest one is 24 yrs old and still not worked for a penny in her life and I had to Leave home, my friends and the country to Live my Life and find myself...I am much better than before...I love my parents and i know they love me but not everyone is as great to realize where in lack in time....I like that your daughter as she looks in the picture...

I wish every parent realizes this in time there would be less Me...

FYI - I turned out to be a better person than any of my sisters!!!

I always wondered about this.

Why was the youngest babied? And how all of them end up?

I always hear so many stereotypes about how a child place in the birth order has an effect on him for his entire life and wanted to see the actual happenings.

It's very common. The first born has a lot of pressure. And is the brunt of the trial and error mistakes. The middle child gets lost in the mix. The third child is spoiled.
