I went to a perspective job opportunity - a used bookstore - and checked out its inventory. It was amazing - some really great books. Except they didn't have Gooberz.
BUT.. in the poetry section... they had.. get this.. "Linda Goodman's Love Poems" which I K-NOW is EXTREMELY hard to find because it's out of print. I'm lucky enough to have a copy because I searched the country for it and found it. But to find it in a used bookstore..wow... I wanted to hand it out free to the next person who entered those doors!!!

Just something I wanted to share.

By the way, "Love Poems" is different than "Venus Trines at Midnight".

anyone else have this book?

If I recall correctly, it has some new poems and some of the same as Venus Trines (but it has been years since I read it).

It does have some of the same ones as Venus but some different ones - mostly excerpts from Gooberz that were used as poems.... and some new new ones, I think.

GREAT book. The picture on the back of her is BEAUTIFUL. so natural.

Randall, I can't believe your college library has it!!! Wow!!!

A few years ago, I had been only the second person to check it out. This is a crazy Bible belt town I live in.

Looks like I have some happy hunting to do for that book! Hope it's around $7 for me too, though I wouldn't mind paying a little more...it's for a good cause!

Hi Knowflakes

I haven't previously posted here but I thought this would be as good a time as any.

LMB, the same thing happened to me too! I was going with my friend to a Pagan expo when we arrived we found it was cancelled so we just walked around the city and came back to this second hand bookshop where I found Linda Goodman's Love Poems! It was soooo exciting and you're right it is a great book.

Are we allowed to post a poem or two for everyone to read it?

Anyway happy reading
Seamistress

YAY! I was wondering when you would start posting, Seamistress (Love the name)! Sure, you can post Linda's poems. It may have some copyrighted privileges, but I ain't never been scared of nothin' before, and I'm not about to start now! Linda would've wanted it this way, I'm sure. So, have at it! Thanks!

Ah, Seamistress...what images your name inspires...

You are more than welcome here, and like Randall...so glad you are posting...

If Randall says post it...post away.
He tends to get a little bored if he doesn't have a good 'BATTLE' at least once a week

Magdalene's Overture to Easter in C-Minor

my soul is torn
I mourn that I was born

now half, no longer
whole, my soul

needs

my soul pleads
come back!

my soul bleeds
in widow's weeds
dressed black

my soul screams

it clings to dreams
where no light gleams
in darkness

last night I dreamed
I cradled his head
in my arms

then he awoke
looked in my eyes
and smiled

be still!
cruel-echoed chords
of music

you lie!

it was not his sleeping head
I cradled only icy stone

my Comforter is dead

...isn't he?

this is one of my favourites, absolutely beautiful isn't it

Love and Light
Seamistress

Thought I would let all you KNOWFLAKES out there I searched the Barnes & Nobel used books and found several copies there...naturally, they were a bit higher than $7.00.

My greatest joy comes from introducing LInda to those who have never read her books. I hope this site accomplishes that.

I strongly suggest that anyone who adores Linda's poetry should march directly to Barnes and Nobles. This book is so moving, not transforming in the sense of Gooberz but still a delightful read

Lots of Love

Linda wanted to be re-MEMBERed as a great poet, not an astrologer. I'm sure it pained her to have this book go out of print.
