I feel kinda guilty but guess what???? The highest bidder was my boyfriend. He got it as a surprise gift for me.

So at least you know it's going to a good home. I'll treasure it dearly.

that's great LMB. At least we know that it will be in a Knowflake's hands and that you will let us all know how it differs from the published work. So it's all good

Right on girl You know, ebay is so funny because people get such great feedback for not really doing much other than listing and shipping or paying on time I love it when I buy something from a seller who is new, I make a big fuss about how amazing the transaction was, and how fast they shipped, and how the product was better than expected. It's kind of fun, you get to be really thrilled and it helps others out too I think ebay is a ball

I wonder what the editors at St. Martin's Press took out. St. Martin was a rabid Christian, totally all up in people's faces as a prophet, it's just funny how his name is now linked to the publication of Linda Goodman's works. Maybe there is Mannu stuff in the proof...

Love,
Carlo

Yes, LMB, tell us if it has anything we need to know! Especially about Mannu! In Star Notes, Linda is very irate about what the publishers did to her books!

Randall - but the galley would still be the publisher's version, right? The only way to know what the publishers didn't cut out is to get her first draft. Hhmm.

No LMB...what you will be getting is her original submission to St. Martin's.

Carlo - Are you sure? I feel silly for not knowing that since I work at a bookstore and we get galleys all the time. If that's true than you have really made my day!!!

Carlo - i looked at the website and saw that it's an "uncorrected proof". Is that different than a galley? I don't think so, based on what i know.

yep. a galley is just the publisher's copy of the original manuscript, the same as an uncorrected proof. So it was Linda's manuscript when she sent it, then St. Martin's created the first galley, the Uncorrected Proof, and returned it to her. Then she made changes and screamed at them on the phone, and then submitted a revised or Corrected Proof, which then became the second galley once St. Martin's set it up. Then they sent it back, and forth, until it became a corrected proof, then she agreed one way or another, and then they either edited it one last time before publication, or went with the last galley and published it.

Good deal, there is nothing better than the uncorrected proof, other than Linda's own notes on her copy of the manuscript, which Kathleen I think has, unless Crystal broke into her house and grabbed it lol (just kidding!)

Awesome, be truly psyched girl!!!

Love,
Carlo
