Randall,Many pages ago, you made a point about our guest succubus being into "vampirism." It seems that we should all find a certain amount of pleasure in the great satisfaction which this practice has obviously brought to our new friend. Succubus, The happiness and contentment you have found through sharing blood with another human being brings a smile to my face. Although I may not agree with your belief,(that this is sensual) I do appreciate that you find it so and that it has filled a void in your life that you felt needed filling. Since you have been able to bring this sense of peace and belonging into your life through your own belief, would you please allow others a chance to do the same through their beliefs? Whatever those beliefs may happen to be, please? Randall, You made a point several pages back. That Vampirists are (if I may paraphrase) "attention seekers." If that is the case, may I suggest that whether or not this is the case, the prolonged nature of any positive response received here will provide what attention you might feel our friend seeks and so should be continued for as long as possible until any remaining void in her life might be filled with the light found here at Lindaland? Succubus, Finally, may I please suggest that since you have no emptiness in your life that could be filled by remaining here in conflict with these people, that you can gain nothing further in this discussion? They will not be convinced against their wills, and attacking their beliefs can only serve to close their minds and their hearts to your sincere attempts to educate them. Any further darkness cast from either side would only serve to alienate them from your reasonable point of view. Certainly that is not an unreasonable thing to assume? Darkness will not find a hold here, regardless of how its seeds are planted, and regardless of by whom. Socratic responses will be lost on me as I will not be returning to this thread. Hopefully this will return to a respectful discussion about a deceased author whose books touch a lot of people's lives. Thank you all for the lessons and your perspectives.

re VAMPIRES: Acheiving Physical Immortality was the traditional reason to take up vampirism. re GRANDMOTHER'S TOE: I suggest you research this in the archives of The Fortean Times. There, you will also find corroboration of Linda's assertions regarding pregnancy and childbirth.IP: Logged |

Greetings maklhouf. Lord Edward spoke about Immortality? Please direct me to the appropriate book. Are you very familiar with his works? Would you be willing to share a little info? His biography on King Harold is on my ever-growing list of "really must read" books. Ashamed to say I haven't gotton to it yet. Someday. tinkIP: Logged |

The story is called The Haunters and the Haunted, but it is not the one you will find in Amazon etc. Someome, (including Lord Edward, apparently) went to a lot of trouble to make the full version hard to find.IP: Logged |

Hmmm. I love a good mystery. Getting my hands on a book that took a little detective work to find - that's my idea of a good time. Thanks maklhouf IP: Logged |

It never fails to amaze me when I see stuff like this ! One person in all the room who opens by attacking others. Plus that Succubus is quite pompous ! I find it quite sad that they don't have peace in their life, anyone who can't have a civil conversation just has something wrong with them. And I find it funny how one who drinks blood has such a closed mind ! How contradictory ! Personally I disagree with some of Linda's views, but I think my views are way out there anyway. As for belonging to a cult, the only thing I worship is nature. But one thing stuck out to me tonight, the idea that she chose to die because she wanted to be reunited with Sam ? And Succubus, if you are still around, I have a link for you; www.dictionary.com the word to look up is 'respect'....have fun ! IP: Logged |

I feel sad and frustrated because this is not at all the direction I wanted the discussion to go in. I was pondering over Linda's life .. . and death. Ms Vampire should have been banned from this website since she didn't care much about the issue nor did she care about Linda.IP: Logged |

Let's start fresh need to believe. Do you still feel cynical about things because of Linda's passing? IP: Logged |

Threads always take on a life of their own, no matter what the original intention. It's just like life, need to believe. Life is a river with many tributaries, life is a tree with many branches...And nothing happens by accident, right? There was something we all learned from reading those posts, there was some value to gain. And of course it's not too late to start a new branch on the tree, and take this thread in another direction. So no need to be sad...

I feel Linda's death is like a betrayal...just like life itself is a betrayal. As a child you think this is how you will always be, your parents will always be strong, your grandparents will always be alive...and then life tricks you. They age and die. And then you age, you get older..weary...caught up in this mess of materialism that you cannot get out of...and at times you even find yourself yearning for relief, even if it be through death... I wish Linda were here. She was a hope for me. I held on to what she said so tightly...too tightly perhaps...IP: Logged |

need to believe, Life is not a betrayal. Life is what you make it. If you believe in reincarnation, you know you are here for specific purposes, and if you chose a life of hardship, it is still yours. You have at least some privilege in your life--you have access to books and a computer. You are not living in the basement of a bombed out home in Sarajevo. You are probably not starving, you are probably not being tortured mercilessly by your government. And even people who experience such hard lives have an amazing and inspiring will to live, a will to find a better day. Change your perspective and you change the world. Linda did not betray you. She gave you, all of us, wonderful gifts with her work and her life. She does not need to answer to you for her choices, but you can interpret them as you will. Death is only another beginning. May you find peace. IP: Logged |
