I am new to this website, and I am not sure why it took me so long to hunt it down. Possibly because of the turmoil that my life has been in since 1995.

My story begins when I moved to Cripple Creek CO in March 1993 to work in the casinos that had just opened. The town had retained its historical status and was in dire need of repair and reconstruction. Most of the buildings in town at that point were originally built in the late 1800's to early 1900's. Much like a ghost town, most of these old buildings were falling down, inside and out. I found myself completely intrigued with this town, which began when I first moved to Colorado in 1976.

The short of it is that soon after I moved to Cripple Creek I found myself in front of an old brick house, with a stained glass window of St Francis of Assisi that seemed to hypnotize me. As I stood there staring at the house in the heavy snowfall of that early morning I knew that I had an unexplainable attachment to that building. I soon found out that it had been inhabited by Linda Goodman until she built a new home up on one of the hills surrounding Cripple Creek. The house on Carr Ave was empty....of people but not of spirits and clues.

When Linda moved from the house to her new home she left behind many mementos, furnishings, books, pictures, and letters. I was amazed that she would simply leave all of these things behind. I began to hunt for information about this woman that I knew only for her Sun Signs book. I soon found out that she was quite eccentric.

The house on Carr was available to purchase, although there was no for sale sign out front. I contacted the only real estate agent in the town and had her take me to the house for a tour. From the moment that I walked into the house I had an immense feeling of comfort and familiarity. I had been there before. That is when I found out that it had originally been a brothel, as many of the houses were in that town during the mining days of the late 1800's....the Largest Gold Camp in the World.

Sorry....I keep rambling on....but there is so much to tell. I guess this is not the spot to tell it. Anyway...after being told that I could explore the house and that most of the things that were in the bare dirt floored basement were considered trash, I spent quite a bit of time down there, reading and hunting by flashlight (the house was not electrically wired) to find a glimpse of Linda's earlier life. One item that I found and treasured is a cigar box full of love letters and poems written by a man named Julian E Davis. I am not sure who he was as of yet, but I am on the hunt. I do know that he was very much in love with Linda and she must have treasured his friendship enough to keep his many letters.

In an old church that was located behind the house that I lived in on Eaton Street, I found a hardcover book written and autographed by Linda Goodman....GOOBERZ. Inside of the cover is a handrwritten note:

For Hope....
Love and Magic!
(signed) Linda Goodman
Please excuse 70 typos!(which she has underlined throughout the book)

The book was written "as telepathically channeled during the months of April, May and June in the Year of our Lord 1972". The copyright on this edition is 1989.

I have hung onto this book, the letters, and other treasures that belonged to Linda at one time, not able to pursue the knowledge of it all until now.

It's great to find a place that I can share this knowledge.

Welcome! I haven't the faintest idea, but I do know you must have some very special past life ties to have been entrusted with such treasures. Nothing is an accident.

How Beautiful and Refreshing, Deep and NeverEnding - her life is. I found myself speaking to you .. as you said "now is not the time or place" .. I said, "Yes please there is no better time". Please share more, and question here. I have always wanted to go to Cripple Creek .. but got discouraged when I found a site that told me it was much like a mini-las vegas.

I thought there would be no more "hints" of Linda and all that she felt. But more, I thought there would be none left of her Inspiration (that she spoke of). I see now from reading what you have written that is not true. Is it always my Fate - to give up too soon Right now I hope not, Soon I wish to have Faith.

Thank you so much for sharing and caring.

A very interesting tale, I know you will treasure these things that have been shared with you, I am curios though, was the post mark on the letters from one of these places
Jackson, MS
Monroe, LA
Dallas, TX
Atlanta, GA

I only ask because, when I saw the name Julian E. Davis I tried very quickly to see if there was a solid lead, so I tried a search, and came up with a hit that places a Julian E Davis who works in Radio in those locations between 1985-2000

I should also mention he worked with an organization called "Hosea Williams Feed the Hungry" while in Atlanta, don't why I am adding this, but feel it is important

Hello,
your story seems so magical! I'm a big fun of Linda and I had bought her Gooberz book after I looked for it for years (not available in my country). For some reason I can't find it anymore and it's so strange, I had never lost a book before. I've been trying to buy this wonderful book again, but everywhere I look in the net is out of stock.
Do you have any idea of where can I get this amazing book?
Love

Hmmm....that is very intrigueing, Aries Lady! Thankyou for sharing it, your words are appreciated.

I didn't know that Linda built another house on the hills surrounding Cripple Creek. I would love to find out what this latter home was like. Does anyone know of anything? Is it possible to find a picture somewhere? Did she pass away/ cross over in Cripple Creek, or was she living somewhere else?

love, light & laughter

I think she passed away in a Colorado hospital.

Linda passed away in Colorado Springs which is about 45 min down the mts from Cripple Creek, yes. There is a picture of the other house, Listens to Trees, that you will find posted from some men from Europe and the link is here on the site somewhere; I saw it last week. I'll try to get some more tomorrow for you.

Greetings...

Julian Davis, to the best of my knowledge was a friend of Linda's who was perhaps a bit more interested in her than she in him, at least romantically speaking.

I believe that she scattered some of his poetry throughout Star Signs? And I think she spoke briefly about him there, or possibly in Gooberz. It's been a while for me...

But I do recall her mentioning that he was a poet and wrote poetry about Cripple Creek.

Hope that helps a bit.

Blessings...

A
