Hello everyone.I am desperately trying to find the poem that was in one of Linda's books relating to Capricorn and Taurus together romantically. Here are the lines that I do remember: "Two become one the whole wide world apart, and not know each of the other's being..." I believe it is in her book Sun Signs or possibly Love Signs. If any one happens to have this book and can come across this poem I would be forever thankful if you would post it for me.Thank You.IP: Logged |

Hello saritaze. I don't have the book in front of me but I believe I know the one you mean. It is a poem by Dante Gabriel Rossetti.IP: Logged |

Tink is right...here you go. It's from the section Taurus Woman/Capricorn Man.two shall be born...the whole wide world apart and speak in different tongues...andhave no thought each, of the other's being...and no heed and these same two o'er unknown seas, to unknown lands, shall cross escaping wreck, defying death and all unconsciously shape each act, and bend each wandering step to this one end... that one day, out of darkness they must meet and read Life's meaning in each other's eyes and these same two along some narrow ay of Life shall walk so nearly side by side that should one turn, evre so little space to left...or right they needs must stand acknowledged, face to face and yet... with wistful eyes, that never meet and groping hands that never clasp with lips, calling in vain, to ears that never hear they seek each other in all their weary days and die unsatisfied ...and this is Fate. Dante was pretty wonderful. Difficult and wonderful. His relationship with Elizabeth Siddal was beautiful but sad. A classic Twin Self story. They believed they were the reincarnation of Dante Aligheri and his Beatrice. His paintings are equally sublime with a touch of the metaphysical. "Beata Beatrix" and "How They Met Themselves" both come to mind. The subject of the latter is the doppelganger. Astral twins are something a bit different of course but the painting could be looked at with twins in mind too. Anyway, if you like his poem, the rest of Dante's story is maybe worth looking into.tink IP: Logged |

Not to criticize...but according to "my" research, the poem in question was written by Susan Marr Spalding [1841-1908].....------------------ -K "Most people love with restraint As if they were someday to hate We hated gently, carefully As if we were someday to love"-Venus Trines at Midnight IP: Logged |

Thanks VAA...I was pretty sure Linda credited it to Dante, but I will check again this weekend. It is a beautiful poem, no matter who wrote it. IP: Logged |

That I can agree with wholeheartedly, trill. Sweet, touching, and sad. Nicely blended components for a "fate" poem. ------------------ -K "Most people love with restraint As if they were someday to hate We hated gently, carefully As if we were someday to love"-Venus Trines at Midnight IP: Logged |

Hi VAA, I checked the book, and Linda does credit the poem to Dante Rossetti. Where did you find contrary information?

trill....I found my info here: 1333. Fate By Susan Marr Spalding Don't know which one is right, though, as both supposed authors were living in the smae time period. ------------------ -K "Most people love with restraint As if they were someday to hate We hated gently, carefully As if we were someday to love"-Venus Trines at Midnight IP: Logged |

A quick web search of sites including about.com confirms your original findings, VAA. There are also a few websites crediting the poem to Dante, but they may have used Linda's book as a point of reference. Dunno. What an interesting mystery. IP: Logged |
