Dwelling on a subject that LostInStrangeWorld brought up about career decisions, I was taken to my book by W. Clement Stone and Napoleon Hill, "Sucess Though a Positive Mental Attitude" (Napoleon Hill also wrote, Think And Grow Rich) I recommend these to all of you born after 1980, it will help you decide what you may want in life. Many of the books and coaches in the world today, will charge you an arm and a leg for their Meaningful courses on video, tape or tape, these two books will teach you all that their infomercials say you can learn by spending three hunder dollars on things, and they (the two books) will teach you more, and I only (well my mom did, she gave them to me)spent 5.99 and 6.99. Anyhow looking for my fine friend in the Uk, I came across what sounded so Linda to me. The book was first published in 1960, so I bet she read it. each chapters goes into what the prefaces says, "a valuable blueprint that will enable you to completely restructure your future." Then at the end of each chapter, there is a a pilot or reminder of what went on in that chapter, a reinforcement for you to get it a second time. I write them out and put them in my journal and soon on the walls where I can see them....hmmm right in front of the toilet...good idea? on Page 196, it states: "a Magnificent Obsession does take courage. You may need to stand alone in combating and repelling the ridicule and ignorance of the experts. Like great discoverers, creators, inventors, philosophers, and geniuses, you may be termed "crazy," "nuts," or a "crackpot." The experts may say what You are trying to do can't be done. with time your burning desire and constant effort will bring your Magnificent Obsession into Reality. when they say, "It cant be done," find a way to do it!" Remind you of a little 5 foot lady in nightgown and coffee writing and doing astrology 20 hours a day? LOL. Now the part my finger got stuck on and thought of linda first was the Pilot, No. 15 1) To develop a Magnificent Obsession: Share yourself with others without expecting a reward, Payment or commendation. Keep your good turns a secret. 2) Regardless of who you are, or what you have been, you can create inside yourself a burning desire to be helpful to others. You can develop your own Magnificent Obsession if you have PMA (Positive Mental Attitude) 3)When you share with others a part of what you have, that which remains wil multiply and grow. The more you Share, the more you will have. Therefore share that which is good and desirable, and withhold that which is bad and undesirable 4)You can develop your own Magificent Obsession by becoming a part of a good cause, as did the mother who lost her only child (thats in the chapter, a story about the mom) 5)Character is the cornerstone in building and maintaining success. But how can you improve you own character? Success Through a PMA will help you find the right answers. 6)There is something infinitely better than making a living: it is making a noble life. Do you believe this? If you do, what will you do about it? 7)A burning desire can generate the drive to action that is imperative to great achievement. To develop a burning desire to achieve a specific goal, daily keep the goal before you. And strive to Achieve it. 8) It takes courage and sacrifice to develop and maintain a Magnificent Obsession. you may need to stand alone against the ridicule and ignorance of others, as did Dr. Joseph Banks Rhine (another story in the chapter) 9)Some people may say Money is the root of all evil, But the Bible says: Love of money is the root of all evil. The good or evil of money is contingent on a little difference. That Little Difference is whether your attitude is positive or negative. 10) Men like Andrew Carnegie, Henry Ford, Micheal Benedum (and a wonderful lady Named Linda Goodman) used the power of their momey to establish charitable, EDUCATIONAL, and religious foundations. The good that has been done by the Magnificent Obsessions of such men (and womEn!) will live in perpetuity! 11)Anything in life worth having is worth working for. 12)When you are asked to give money or time to worthy cause, repeat to yourself: "what! Giving again?" I ask in Dismay. "And must I keep giving and giving away?" "Oh no," said the angel looking me through, "just keep giving till the Master Stops giving to you!" That Which You Share with Others Will Multiply and That Which You Withhold Will Diminish! GUYS...I feel like shes right over my shoulder telling what to write....lol. I was just thinking last night about my dreams and goals, and then I thought- 'well if I do what I feel I need to do those around me will think I am a perfect crackpot, and a complete nutcase.' Seriously, it really got me down, and very depressed. But this is in synch, and I believe I can do what I dream of- its just that I have always been worried to be seen as eccentric or weird. But what is normal anyhow? Any way thanks Thor for playing a part in- whatever you call it- life/oneness...thanks. ------------------ "And dreams, don't ever forget, are the first step in manifesting wishes into reality"-- Linda Goodman's Star Signs IP: Logged |
