I've noticed how the Immortals are treated with respect here (and vice versa), and it puzzles me a bit, because Immortals are usually the recipients of aggressive energy from society. Just try mentioning the possibility of immortality to a person in the world, and you will see most responses be of either an angry nature, ridicule, or just plain aggressiveness. I view death as unnatural. It is our nature to be immortal, but ever since "the fall," we have taken to Heart what our Heavenly Father and Mother Goddess said when they told us in Eden that "Ye shall surely die." We have forgotten our true nature. But to watch people defend death amazes me. They seem willing to fight for their right to die. They are loyal subjects to the very end. I'm not talking about people on this site (for death is just another choice, and there are truly no "wrong" choices), but to see people in the outside world actually defend death like they do amazes me to no end. ------------------ Remember, love can conquer the influence of the planets.... Do you ever wonder if some people are just plain scared of LIVING??? That death is an easy out to not truly LIVE???And I know what you mean about the comments....most people really think you are to want to live forever... Hey, I just thought of the phrase.. "Scared the LIVING daylights out of me!" I think there is a 'clue' there that 'fear' is the main reason. ------------------

First, let me say some of my favorite people are *Immortal* (yeah.. that be you two)And yes, sometimes the thought of *living forever* is a bit scarey to me ... sigh ... no, not *living* forever, but living in this mess we have created! However, this also makes me feel we *need* immortals because of the *mess* ... YIVY~ Love what you saw in the cliche you quoted above! Yep.. there is *real* meaning in all cliches - just *in a nut shell* ~Princess IP: Logged |

I don't think it is really necessary to call people "Deathist Loyalists." It is condescending and sounds like you are labeling people as morbid and death-obsessed, when they simply may not WANT to live forever, whether they believe they can or not. As you may know (especially Randall), I have not closed my mind off to anything yet. I am open to the concept and plan to study it, and I absolutely do NOT think you guys are loonies! I think I can tell you why people respond aggressively when you tell them you are an immortal. To say to someone that you are an immortal *sounds* (to many people) like you are putting yourself up on a pedestal. Kind of like saying, "I'm special! I'm never going to die! You're not special, and you're gonna die!" Now, obviously, that's not at ALL what you mean! But people don't understand it and they fear the unknown. Sadly, people fear and lash out at what is a little "out there." Don't take these people personally. I think it crucial to have tolerance and respect for others. I can not imagine how hard it must be to be open with others about immortality. You must get a broad range of reactions, from "cool!" to "you need to get your head examined!" Hold your heads up high. You just might get the last laugh. ------------------ we are everyday angels IP: Logged |

Some people may get frightened because on a deep level, they BELIEVE you, and that can be a scary thought.Remember when you were a little boy or girl (yesterday evening, for example), when you lay on your back and looked up at the stars, and saw them going on and on forever, and knowng you were seeing just a minute fraction of the universe? It probably gave you a feeling of awe, and look what we think of awe - being filled with awe is AWFUL!! I know loads of people who feel absolutely spooked when they look at the night sky, and will not do it for more than a minute. People are not trained to handle those feelings of awe, and I think that's the level of fear that Immortals attract. When I was a little girl, yesterday and the day before, and I looked up at the stars stretching on forever, it gave me a wonderful feeling of excitement and joy, and of being connected to everything, and of *anything* being possible. That's how I feel about Immortals. I think it may be because I had a very religiously spiritual upbringing from my Pisces mother. It's faith that gives you good feelings from awe - and as Linda said, fear is just inverted faith. When people learn to turn their faith around, they will not fear or hate Immortals - or anyone else for that matter. IP: Logged |
