Hi guys, I did mention that I will shortly be moving to Denmark and to a new home. I came across this book by Suzy Chiazzari and Catherine Cumming. The former wrote "The healing home" and the latter " Colour Healing home". I find them most interesting as they describe many "non physical" factors to consider when decorating a new home. FEng shui was mentioned and also crystals plus the type of essential oils to be used. The best part is ( i like colours) was on colours - what it meant for different cultures and as a colour therapy how it will apply to the individual.Has anyone come across any other books besides the above mentioned ones? I like to read more about it before we start with our home improvement and house hunting!!! I am currently reading FENG SHUI APPLICATIONS by Lillian Too and they are quite mind boggling...but interesting , yes!! Any opinions or recommendations are most welcome!!! ------------------------------------ "I have danced beyond the threshold to find forgotten dreams and lands; I rhyme the stars by moonlight, as visions guide my hand." ~ SS ~

I think that you should focus on the colors that make YOU FEEL good first. Then adapt them to the space (and your furniture of course). THEN apply any book knowledge that jumps out at you. The wonderful thing about color is that its easily changed and you are bound to get tired of what you have eventually anyway. Unless you really know what you want for a space, keep the SHADE of whatever color you choose in a neutral value and let your accessories add the ooomph. This way your overall color is easy to modify. Hope its a FUN project for you!IP: Logged |

Raindew...Feng Shui is such fun. And has amazing results. I got most of my ideas from THE IDIOTS GUIDE TO FENG SHUI....the perfect book for me as I stumble through Feng Shui.VR...very good idea about the neutral colors. You can always add color better than redoing a mistake. ------------------

Virgo Rising, thanks for the input. Also, YIVY, appreciate your comments. I am finding FENG SHUI getting too technical for me, i must say. U know how it is in practice it is very difficult to have everything from landscape to the inner part of the home to coincide with the best placements , unless if u have the $$$ to buy the land and build your own home!!!! That's why I like the 'IDIOT'S' book. It made things really easy. Plus one thing it mentioned was not to worry about rooms you seldom used. Concentrate on the ones you really live in.It broke the house down into 9 equal parts like on a grid...and gave you very easy things to use to fix any negative vibes. And something I experimented with and found out it works really well. If a room needed say water...and there was no way to either repaint or put in a fountain...well, I got a small plug in nite lite and put in a blue bulb. Then just leave it on 24 hours a day. And you can plug it in somewhere that it won't be too noticed. Red for fire...green for wood, white for metal, blue for water and orange or yellow for earth. ------------------

I can't function Feng Shui either I would love to be able to afford an expert to make some suggestions tho! A friend of my sister's took up the study of Feng Shui and the next time she went to my sister's house, she stopped inside the front door in horror and exclaimed "The cat box is in your money sector!!!" His home is full of "auspicious" things and the house is ,errr renovated a few times already according to the feng shui alignments. And we chinese, are a supertitious lot. No 8 is best and red!!!!YIVY, thanks for the encouragement . Who is the author of the book you are reading??

The authors of THE COMPLETE IDIOT'S GUIDE TO FENG SHUI are Elizabeth Moran and Val Biktashev.Funny thing my home is the complete opposite of what my husband and I should have....we are both wood, and our home is Dui -W-Metal. With this book I was able to make quite a few simple changes to bring it into harmony with us...and it all worked great. Of course, I also did a few 'witchy' things to help Raindew...and in 2004 8 becomes the prevailing number. The wheel of number turns every 20 years. Right now 7 is prevailing with 8 and 9 growing. In 2004 7 becomes weak, with 8 prevailing..and 9 and 1 growing. You know, the Chinese have slightly different meanings of the numbers, but I wonder if the western ones we are more familiar with would work also. Right now (and for the past 18 years) we have lived under a prevailing 7 vibration...with the 6 weak...and the vibes of 8 and 9 growing. 5 is weak and 1,2,3,4 are dead. All you expert numerologists out there, how does that fit in with the last 18 years...world/people wise? And if that works....how will the next 20 be with 8 prevailing, 9 and 1 growing. 6 and 7 weak. 2,3,4,5 dead. I think that combining a lot of belief systems we can eventually come closer to some 'deeper' truths. What do you see? ------------------

YIVY, I don't know how our Western numerology matches up to Eastern, but it's interesting the *60's Movement* was during the 20 years of the number *6* ~ the number of Love, Peace and Romance!!! And...Interesting too is that when/while 7 is prevailing *now* we have been/are experiencing this huge surge of enLightenment and spiritual growth ... 7 ~ Ruled by Neptune. Represents spirituality, sensitivity, sympathy, and mystery; is the number of illusion and delusion, sometimes deception; also the number of healing and miracles, faith, and dreams that come true. Well... we all know what the implications of the numbers 8 and 9 are and/or can be ...I wonder what was going on in the world the last time 8 prevailed with 9 growing ... When would that have been? <let me try to do the math here> ........... OK, um... would it be 2004 - 180 (20 X 9) = the year 1824 ? 8 prevailing thru 1844 ? I'm off to do some HIStorical research (hope that math is right ) ~Princess ------------------ "I think the Goddess lives in our humanity, and not anywhere else." ~Merlin's last words - to Viviann ~ . + * + . * . Somebody better rescue YIVY quick, in that case Ah...the dust bunnies are flying all over the place. Just in time for Easter. I'd prefer a Cadbury Bunny Egg, though. You know, because of that commercial I thought bunnies reproduced by laying eggs. I'm sorry, I'm a bit goofy tonight IP: Logged |
