How anal is this... I made this pact with my body when I was a young woman... I hate wearing precautionary protection before my menses. I ALWAYS start my cycle at night. On that night, I will dream of it starting, wake up, and put protection on. Next morning, vwola! I believe the elimination process is necessary, but I won't allow any more than two or three days light flow! Really! Hasn't changed in 21 yrs. No PMS! Kinda weird that I have so much control over that issue! IP: Logged |

you are a control freak Phil!!! I only wish you had been there to show me how to do it right! I have had a miserable female life. Lots of grief that I dont really care to get in to. Lets jsut say WAY TO MUCH SURGERY!!! I was told at 19 I would never have kids. (I have 2!!) Now at 45 I quit taking the premerin for fear of breast cancer and am suffering for killer hot flashes, ect. Thanks for letting me spill!! IP: Logged |

How does a woman who has had a hysterectomy go through menapause? I have wondered this for a long time. Is it just a hormone change and not just a physical change? (sorry if it sounds like a niave question)IP: Logged |

Bluemoon, I was a tom boy! I refused to believe I would go through all the "typical" stages of womanhood! Especially the really horrible accusations about wether someone was "on the rag" because she may be in a bad mood. I didn't want to deal with any aspect of it. But since I didn't have a choice, and became a woman, I wanted to be in control. I felt sanitary napkins were an insult to all women. In my day and probably yours, they weren't as discrete as they are today. No protective "flaps", or thin protection! Let's face it, it was like wearing a diaper everyone could see!IP: Logged |

I'd like to stress that menopause is a normal female process and only small majority of women have big problems. All the increased media attention has left most women scared stiff that menopause is always hell. Not the case for a lot of people, but they make it a kind of self fulfilling condition for themselves. Still, saying that, I do know a few women who really do suffer awful symptoms. Do you know in some cultures symtoms are unheard of? Perhaps they do get symptoms but experience them entirely differently, as not a problem. A recent study showed that general health both physical and psychological has huge boichemical effects in the body. Are we so stressed about menopause that we cause these symptoms? It makes one wonder does it not? Gia IP: Logged |

I'll tell you a funny story about those pads. Menstrual periods were never talked about in our house when I was growing up. My mother died when I was 9 and I grew up with my older sisters and strict Greek father. I don't know why it was never talked about, it was like sex I suppose they thought they'd wait until I became a woman to tell me those things.I kept seeing these white pads with little loops on them in the storage where we kept all our spare cleaning supplies. They were stored right next to the Vim which is like Comet. When I asked what they were? I was told they were oven pads, so I just presumed you used them along with the Vim. Well we didn't have a self cleaning oven in those days and it was my turn to do the nasty chore. I used 24 of them. I was totally disgusted with the very apparent lack of scrubbing action, also the fact they didn't stay soapy. I complained bitterly about those little loops. I just didn't see the point in putting them through your fingers..... Gia

Gia that's an innocent story,I will say innocent because of the innocense of the time when it happened. I am also brought up in such an environment. Infact when I was a child our elders never spoke of anyone having kids by operation in front of us. It was considered something only the elders were supposed to know. Donno why they thought that girls should remain ignorant and find out things on their own.About the menopausal thing i was wondering that if I chose to be an imortal and stucked to the age of 23 or so then would I never have a menopause? My mother had a daughter at the age of 39! So who says that the fertile years are 25-35? IP: Logged |

"Do Guys believe...." (The question indicate that "guys" here means males. Because females can have no doubt). Men are fortunately blessed in escaping the monthly trauma, so the name for us may be incorrect. But if a guy does not believe, he will still experience a "menopause" as he ages. Although obviously we do not seem to have a male-name for it. So maybe the question should be "Do girls believe that men ...". And do guys care ? Check out the reasons for the Indian Brave's pain of hooking them self to a bent tree.
