Pisces Moon unregistered	posted August 29, 2003 02:40 AM I have been reading the "Letters" of Lady Mary Wortley Montague. Lady Mary was a highly intelligent 18th century writer and traveller; one of the first European women to travel in the Islamic world; and introduced smallpox inoculation to England. She was a Gemini, and prided herself on the accuracy of her information - she was sceptical and insisted on checking all her sources thoroughly before passing on any "traveller's tales". Later in life, she retired to a small village in Italy called Gottolengo. From here she recorded a strange anecdote. The villagers told her that shortly before she arrived an elderly lady had died. She was well over a hundred when she died, and her life story was curious. Up until late in life, she was a very old woman and looked it, although still strong and healthy. Then in her 90s, a strange "age reversal" occurred. Her thin white hair became thick, dark and lustrous; her wrinkles disappeared; she plumped out; in short, she looked at least 40 years younger than her chronological age. Her daughters privately relayed the information that she had begun menstruating again. Her death was due to an accident (a fall downstairs that broke her head open) not illness or "old age". Lady Mary did not believe this story, and thoroughly interviewed everyone in the village and surrounding areas, both peasant and aristocrats, looking for flaws in the story. She also asked to see the parish records to substantiate the claims of her length of life and cause of death. Eventually she was forced to conclude that the story was essentially true, unless all these eye witnesses had conspired together and falsified documents. Now, I don't think the old lady was an immortal; it seems more likely that she had some rare hormonal disorder. However, it does provide evidence that it IS possible for age reversal to occur in the physical body. If it can happen spontaneously, it can happen by choice. IP: Logged
