Well, I don't have much to add to the topic begun in "Would the real immortals please stand up." But dig in, folks.------------------ "The reason why birds can fly and man cannot is simply that they have perfect faith; for to have faith is to have wings." ~JM Barrie IP: Logged |

chocolate? I don't think that posts should be deleted. I think that the conversion of curse words into asterix' is quite enough. If we go deleting posts that are offensive then who would respond and then who would learn acceptance or restraint or defence or outrage or whatever and learn how to express these things to others We need to hear what people say, to learn how everyone thinks so that we may learn ourselves. People will start to feel as though they cannot be honest and then we will get a bunch of fake comments and whatnot - give me a break. You can't learn from people who are editing themselves for fear of not being heard unless they fit into other people's expectations. What if some people are more sensitive than others. "Oh my sensitivity is offended so I am deleting the post." How is that fair to the those of us who could have gleaned some of the aforemention quality traits from the interaction. I want the realness. Unless someone is being extremely abusive, complete with insults then why should things be taken away? ------------------ "Get some Love in your groove, just get hip to Forgive"-Michael FranksIP: Logged |

I agree, if it is that offensive I think the person should be spoken to about the post, it should be discussed and they can then reach a compromise. I have written many a post that I have regretted afterwards, that person may want it deleted once shown another perspective ! I think offensive swear words should be deleted or censored but I don't think it's fully right to control freedom of speech. But on the other hand, it is your website, and you do have right over what can be discussed or not, but I think it should be made clear before deleting comes into force. I feel this is a loving gang here, everyone is so nice compared to many other forums, if we really think another person is being attacked, they may need it to understand their own attitude. On a related story, I posted a very angry message to a new person as she rattled me so much. Her post was harsh and I really ripped into the girl in response which I did later regret a little. Because I ripped into her, she mailed me privately apologising for getting on my wrong side and explainning why she thought that way. I posted messages back and before long we were emailling each other, now we are like long lost sisters ! Now that would never have happened if my offensive post had been deleted ! The woman is so much like me and we get on so well, I'm so glad I had a go at her !Also may I add, it shows real maturity and democracy to have begun this thread, I have much respect !! IP: Logged |

*Chocolate because Grasshopper said "dig in" and I wanted chocolate.* We obviously know my thoughts are on the same vein as the ones illustrated so well by my fellow knowflakes. I absolutely agree that it is completely subjective... and also dependent on the moment... Also, I second the true spirit of democracy and maturity by letting this thread be the voice for departed/ressurected thoughts. I did mention that Grasshopper did not know me, nor I them (man/woman? I don't know.. sorry! See? I don't know you!) I am pleased to see this thread as well as the comments to me on the original immortal thread. It was a very humanistic approach that got me feeling less like an example and more like a person who could be heard (if I shouted and pouted enough) Thanks for opening it up. Nice to meet you. It's like being the stern principal in a first meeting.. you can't show the kids how 'cool' you are because that would negate the nature of the relationship right off the bat... but it's okay to show them your tattoos and penchant for comic books once the bell has rung, and it is well into the school year. We all say things that are a bit insensitive at times and we wind up regretting it, and yes, good relationships do come about from them 80% of the time. God knows I've said things I instantly regretted by HOW I said them, but that doesn't mean I didn't want to say them. I don't want my posts deleted simply because I take a different view that others find offensive or diagree with cuz, to me, that's what makes us all unique. Those of us who are over sensitive need to learn ways to deal with what others may say. Fight or flight I say! I was going to change my name to Openmouthinsertfoot but that was just way too long! Personally, I prefer we all communicate in our individual ways. It keeps things interesting! IP: Logged |

My thoughtsI think we should not be able to delete what we write, we should think before we write, be conscious of what we are saying. And, well, we can learn from our's and others mistakes. FREEDOM OF SPEECH THANK GOD IP: Logged |

Good move Grasshopper, I support the closing of those threads. Those sorts of posts are only suitable as private emails.I really was horrified and offended reading such graphic details in certain posts. I really felt it was unecessary on a public board. Young people come here and I wouldn't want them being exposed to that sort of explicit content. Certainly NOT HERE! ------------------ "...and dreams, don't ever forget, are the first step in manifesting wishes into reality" -Linda Goodman IP: Logged |

You have lots of nice words in your name! When I first saw your name I saw "She hear tone"... I also see: Soul, Heart, Art, Star, Sun, Solar, Lunar, One, Earth, Sea, Tune, Tarot, Rune, See, Tear (good tears), Heal, Ear, Real, and more! I could make a beautiful lexi out of your name. Very nice choice! SunChild picked me too, I was thinking of a screen name for LL, and I heard "sunchild" whisper in my ear. I've never read 'SunChild' or heard that term before in my life! I thought it was a lovely name! ------------------ "...and dreams, don't ever forget, are the first step in manifesting wishes into reality" -Linda Goodman IP: Logged |

Wow! SunChild thanks, yes, it's funny, I got my new dell computer, and had to choose an email name on the spot for the internet, no time to lexigram, or do numerology, a year later I found it in a book, it said," the lotus heart is one" an awakening of forgotten melodies, I love that we can all express ourselves, we sure have all come a long way, in a short period of time, My Hopes are to see more and more opening up, and releasing fear, not worrying about people thinking they're crazy, we're not, lol really Thanks Love and Light to ALL

Somewhat bemused that everyone got so upset, since the stuff was aimed at me and I wasn't upset. Also very tired of people using Young People as a reason to stifle things. Tedious, dishonest and shows a lack of understanding of the challenges a genuine beleif in physical immortality throws up. (Beleive it or not I do not spend much time thinking of Dafremen, nor was I thinking of him when I made references to human pride. I was aware that it might be misinterpreted, but saw no reason to censor myself because of that.)IP: Logged |
