Oh, this is so cool. I found a whole book on physical immoraltiyt. Awhile back, I ran across a thread where Randall mentioned the book You Don't Have to Die, and I found a used copy on Amazon. Can't wait till it arrives. IP: Logged |

It arrived yesterday, and it truly is a whole book on physical immortality. It's not in the best condition, though. I guess I wouldn't recommend buying a used book from Amazon. The table of contents says it all:You don't have to die The evoluton of death Learning to die (don't know if I want to learn to die) Organized belief More nurture, less nature Mental evolution Beyond human comprehension Religious seeds of truth Why we age Overcoming propaganda Perseverance Deathist programming Learning to live The infinity circle TKLCAM Reversing your age Perpetualism Spiritual evolution Stages of enlightnement Food for thought The immortal teachings of Jesus The tao of immortality Enlightenment revisited Beyond immortality The endless path Spiritual protection I went out to the bookstore and picked up Star Signs, too, so I could refresh my memory. I'll keep everyone post if I come across something really amazing. Oh, and it's by Dan Hall. IP: Logged |

I think I remember coming across that thread relatively recently. I began reading this book, it's called Forever it's by Pete Hamill. It's about this Irish guy who gets granted immortality when he comes to Manhattan in the 1700's, he will be immortal as long as he doesn't leave the island. It's kind of sort of slow at first but it's a really good book so far. And it seems really real not make-believe like some stories of this nature could be (I even thought that perhaps he happened upon someone and interviewed them and called it fiction). I've been meaning to post something about the book here cause it gives you a look at what things might be like it you were really immortal. Maybe you could read this book in conjunction with the one that you are getting. I really would think that someone who is considering certain lifepaths would find this book useful. Anyway, this book that you are talking about: I'd like to know about that last chapter and what he or she has to say about spiritual protection in reference to immortality.------------------ Get some love in your groove, just get hip to forgive... - Michael Franks IP: Logged |

Silverbells, I haven't got to the last chapter yet. So far, the book's gotten into quite a bit on why people die and a lot on eastern philosophy. I did skim through the spiritual protection chapter. There's a lot of talk about karma. So far, it's a good read.Juniperb, the site on the front cover still wroks, but it's ********** .com now. He put up a lot of free information on health and diet and stuff, and he's got a new book out that's still in print that looks like it's a bigger version of You Don't Have to Die, which is cool since it was kinda hard to track down this one. It's available at Amazon http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0595314228/qid=1089410388/sr=1-1/ref=sr_1_1/104-8940288-1270306?v=glance&s=books IP: Logged |

I read that book. It's by Dan Hall. He stopped selling it because he said it was other people's theories rehashed or something like that. I liked the book though.Whatever happened to him? I think he went through some stuff. You know Randall? IP: Logged |

I just wanted to update everyone on this wonderful book. I'm about halfway through it now (haven't had too much time to read lately with work and all.. haven't even had much time to come here. It's getting into the whole idea that death is a process of evolution and that through time, we got to the point where we accepted death and therefore because we believe it to be true, it is. Similar to Linda Goodman's ideas on the subject. To answer the question about wahtever happened to Dan Hall, it appears he's still writing. His new book's available at Amazon and looks like it's even better than You Don't Have to Die. I've been reading a lot on his site, too, which gets into a lot more than physical immortality. He's got a whole health system on their that gets into fructarianism and body, mind, spirit stuff. I don't know why it came up with ********* before, but the site is n-e-o-h-y-g-i-e-n-e.com but without the hyphens. Anyway, it's worth a look. I've been using some of the diet techniques and have lost about 15 pounds in the past two months. It's hard to do some of that stuff, but it works. Much better than this silly Atkins stuff they keep advertising. IP: Logged |

The problem I have with books like that, is that the people are usually middle age and look it (or worse!). I would love to read a book like that from someone who was at least 80 but looked 25-30, then I would be impressed! It is discouraging when people write about those things then up and die.(Like L. Goodman) Surely, somewhere, somebody....IP: Logged |

I agree, Good Girl. I sort of understand how Linda ended up dying, considering all that she went through. I guess it depends on how much self-discipline you have. It's sort of like a really unhealthy person writing a diet book that really works and is actually incredibly good for you. They just didn't have the self-control to do it themselves, or chose not to follow it for one reason or another. Although, again, as you said, Good Girl, I would love to see a person who wrote a book on immortality who is a real immortal. It would be very inspiring. But.. perhaps it has something to do with the government... them not wanting to give anyone a SOLID reason to really believe in it. Just letting people decide for themselves, as it's harder to believe something when all apparent or available evidence is against you. It sounds sad... But I'm going to try it out, and at best, I'll outlive most people. IP: Logged |
