by Stephen Hawking

I went to the bookstore today, and the Astrology section was lacking, to say the least.
I have been thinking of reading this for a long time, and it practically begged to be in my hands. It was the last one on the shelf. So it is time.
Dealing with metaphysics for so long, I felt drawn to this book, to expand my mystical 'science' with a brilliant mind's view of this brilliant Scientific Universe.
I am only on the first chapter, but amazingly, I don't feel stupid. * I thought I'd be incredibly humbled*

I also picked up a new copy of The Prophet by Kahlil Gibran, I 'shared' mine years ago.

Just wanted to share.

Great book, pixelpixie. I read it years ago. Perhaps it's time to read it again?

Hiya pixie. I 'attempted' reading a Stephen Hawking book a few years ago. Forgot the title, something like 'Origins of the Universe'. If I had a chalkboard and notepad, along with an understanding of quantum physics, it would've helped.

Of course, I had just gotten out of the army at the time and was home. I was to busy destroying brain cells!

Right now I'm reading a book on Nikola Tesla, and another on the combat career of a German 'Tiger' tank ace.

I went to college in Cambridge and we had the privilage of having Stephen Hawkings lecture us on his theories of the Black Hole.

Not only is he intelligent, as hell, he is also funny.

It just makes me glad that he didnt succumb to the limitations of his disability and was, and still is, able to share his wondrous world with us.

Happy readings Pixelpixie

Uhhhhh, the combination of Physics and Metaphysics??? Physicists are realizing that quantum theory cannot exist without the consideration of the oneness with everything. Which is a spiritual/metaphysical belief system. Correct me if I'm wrong, I might be.

Meta~ Beyond
Physics

Everything is linked, incredibly, inexplicably in some ways, unless you go beyond what is 'known'.
Even what is known wasn't always known.

Kush~ I hope it your English context usage, but you rub me the wrong way a lot.
So demanding and holier-than-thou.
I hope you are humbler than you seem.

Oh no.. I don't think you are devious....

I think you present yourself as someone who knows all the answers.
Which isn't a strong way to learn anything.
It would take a lot longer to absorb concepts, because you'd have to ovrcome a false wall of knowledge first.

It's like moving when only half of your boxes are packed. That's a lot of stuff to sort through.

KNow what you know, learn what you need... but if you present yourself humbly, and present those things you have learned as truth to yourself ( not necessarily worldwide) Then you will see how much more enriching it is to not have to prove yourself.. just infuse.
You know?

Hey Pixie, how are you going with the book? Sure is a tough one hey? But oh so good. I haven't read any other of his books though, but I also loved Richard Feynman for his imagination and writing style, and James Glieck for his ability to reach the layman. Hawking's great for the details, but man they can be confusing Carl Sagan's awesome too

And what do you mean by infuse? Like, are you saying we should absorb all knowledge we obtain and like, feel the knowledge grow? Or do you mean it's good to infuse your knowledge into others? Like very subtle?

Dean.

Hello, Sesame!
"And what do you mean by infuse? Like, are you saying we should absorb all knowledge we obtain and like, feel the knowledge grow? Or do you mean it's good to infuse your knowledge into others? Like very subtle?"

Sure.. Okay! Whatever works for you.
I guess I meant whatever appeals to you, whatever you personally vibrate to, let that be your flagship, let that be how you represent yourself.. and don't expect others to feel the same way.
Be true.
And Infuse.. I guess I meant the world is knowledge, in every raindrop, in the mundane and in the massive. Feel it and grow.
I don't know, sometimes I like to use words which are subject to how the person reading them will adapt it... 'infuse' was simply poetic license.. no higher meaning required.

Not much subtlety here.

Let's not talk about the book.. I put it down.... but every once and a while I will see it on the shelf and say.. yes, soon, I will read you.
That about sums up any 'great' thing I find.. I am so anxious and excited, then I'm like... meh.
It's all in the acquiring... I wish it were infused knowledge.

But I have picked up Star Signs again. It had been too long.

Yes, well, I guess when the time is right, but I highly recommend it. If you push yourself you may get to a point where you start to enjoy it, but it might not happen

Hey Pix! Put the book between your mattress and boxspring, that should infuse the info!
(like Edgar Cayce did!)
