Ye Are Gods

Though Christ uttered the statement, “Ye are gods,” it goes against mainstream thinking all over the world. We are not told we are Gods; we are told that God governs us. We pray to God and we go to God when we die, but we are not told that God is fully within us. We deny this because how else can we explain the ills of the world? If we accepted that God was within us, we’d have to accept each path as perfect. What Christ said was true: in each and every one of us is a microcosm of God, which means we are not only capable of doing everything that God is capable of doing, but also that we were created to do so! I hear gasps in my head from unseen souls as I write this, but you must know that we truly are an offshoot, spark, or child of God. To understand ourselves more fully, we have to get into the essence and mind-set of God, for what God does, we do—we are the same.

What does God do? God creates in order to experience Itself; therefore, we are beings with immense and unlimited creation able to enhance our life experience in any manner we wish. There is no limit or exaggeration in the statement, “We are created in the likeness of God.” This goes beyond appearance. It is both our soul right and natural inborn ability to attain a Godly state.

Why then do we fail? We fail because personal power has been buried or handed over to someone else at every level and we, the pawns of restricting religions, politics, and self-inflected (or learned) limited thinking, feel almost sated as long as we are allowed to live the semblance of a life. We are not much different from a collection of cows being herded about, fed, protected (for valuable commodities receive that), and harvested for our worth. Think about this: life happens regardless of our level of participation or knowledge just like it does for the cow.

Two governing factors exist that perpetuate our narrow and limited thinking: ignorance and fear; and the two are often interwoven. Our lives would crumble under the logic of a seven-year-old if he were but educated in truth. We are kept ignorant by many mainstream religions because our true power is so strong that we would have no need for the organizations that keep us ignorant. Those organizations, drunk on power and greed, cannot allow that.

How powerful are we? In my opinion, we are infinitely so, yet we live lives dense with fear, self-limitations, and utter ignorance, and we do so willingly. At the end, we await either a straight shot to some form of heaven or hell or, for the atheist, an easy escape into oblivion. We dance between excessive pain and excessive pleasure, rarely finding and sustaining inner peace. This cycle will go on forever until we stop the insanity and reclaim our power and come to terms with our true inner being of Godliness.

Reclaiming your power and Godhood is achieved by educating yourself on who and what you really are and by finally witnessing and understanding your own limitations (whether self-imposed or imposed on you by others), which will lead to the eventual dropping of the chains and veils that bind you to the systems and concepts that are not a true reflection of who you are. It is time for us to regain control and experience a new kind of life, the kind of life we were meant to consciously live, not the life largely created for us by others or through our own willful ignorance.

Accepting this truth means that you might have to undergo some hefty redefinitions of your beliefs. Many religions believe that to call oneself God is blasphemy, yet Christ, the Son of God, said it! He also said, “Even greater miracles than these, ye shall do also.” Do not take my word for it, take His word for it! I am not preaching Christianity here; I am simply saying that to base your beliefs on fear-based Christian interpretations will drastically reduce your inborn power. Should you want to make this a part of your reality, you can miraculously heal, change energy from one element to another, ascend to subtle heaven-like planes, and yes, even become naked to the invisible eye. Whether you want to do these things is up to you, but it is possible and within your reach as a child of God.

Some people may not be able to embrace this belief, and that is their choice. They will continue thinking that they are dirty, lowly sinners and that they can never measure up to anything worthwhile, especially something resembling God. For centuries, people have been putting other people on pedestals and putting gods on even higher ones, and the end result is one long pecking order and, ultimately, one big lie. No king, actor, politician, or spiritual advisor is any more perfect than the peddler on the street or God in heaven. Think about this: if God is perfect, how can God create something less than perfect? It’s impossible. The illusion of imperfection has to be created so we can appreciate, through experience, perfection.

God said, “And let there be light.” Before light there was darkness. Light was created after the fact. The illusion of hate was created despite the fact that love is all there is. Why all these dualities? How else can God experience Its own infinite love if there is nothing to compare it to? If illusions were not created to show contrast in all things, then this would be the equivalent of taking white chalk and writing on a white chalkboard. You wouldn’t see the writing on the wall! This pertains to conscious beings as well. Ye are gods, but again the illusion of not being God has to be created so we can work through the incredible process of returning to this awesome state of being. There is tremendous joy in this.

Illusion is a must. Creation is what we do. We love, just as God does, the process of breaking through the illusion and experiencing that whole process. It’s a thrilling and wonderful process, and you’ll know what I mean when you start to do it yourself.

Do you realize that it’s the journey more than the destination? God loves the journey. If God did not, then poof! We’d all be gone (illusion and all) and we’d be in a timeless “one” state forever, for the destination is also the beginning. The two are inseparable. You start as one, you experience the illusion of separation, and ultimately, you end up with the realization of this and return to the one state. And if you so wish, you can do it all over again. Such is the ebb and flow of life and consciousness.

Jesus had this to say in The Gospel of St. Thomas about the beginning also being the end and how we seek the end though we know not that it is also the beginning:

The disciples said to Jesus, “Tell us how our end will be.”
Jesus said, “Have you discovered, then, the beginning, that
you look for the end? For where the beginning is, there will the
end be. Blessed is he who will take his place in the beginning;
he will know the end and will not experience death.”

You, as God does, create what you need in your life to get the most experience out of it. You create your own journey and walk your own path and make your own choices. People mistakenly think that their spiritual path is the process of “getting back to God,” but God is a part of everything you see around you. So it’s not getting back to God, but working through experience to realize that God was never apart from you. God is not nestled in Heaven looking down at you in his flowing white robe, ticking off your sins for final judgment, but instead is everywhere. It is not a process of returning, but a process of experiencing the being that is in all things. God is in the face of the neighbor you can’t stand, the homeless person begging for food, the rock you just climbed, the dog you just petted, and the stars at which you just gazed. God permeates all things, including you. When Christ said, “Ye are gods,” his statement was a reflection of the fact that God is within (and without, for that matter) and that we are but a microcosm of Its glory.

Don’t just nod your head and mouth the words “ye are gods”—believe it! Know it! Accept it! If you just think, “Oh sure, that sounds good,” but don’t really believe it in your heart, then the power is useless to you. Let this belief settle into your psyche. You may even wish to not read further until you can meditate on this amazing tidbit and let it settle in. In fact, going any further in the book and yet rejecting this core concept is a pointless move if you want to consciously manifest your reality. How can you expect miracles to occur if you think that you are incapable of them? This is why I put this topic first. It is the biggest and most challenging belief to incorporate into your mind-set. “As a man thinketh, so is he.” If I can make miracles happen through this belief system, then so can you. Remember, I came from a literal doghouse!

Before we close this section, let me quote a bit of profound text, which many, if not most Americans, either cannot quote, have forgotten, or chose to forget, but the underlying truth is my message to you as stated by the Declaration of Independence (underlines added for emphasis):

WHEN in the Course of human Events, it becomes necessary for one People to dissolve the Political Bands which have connected them with another, and to assume among the Powers of the Earth, the separate and equal Station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature's God entitle them, a decent Respect to the Opinions of Mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the Separation.

WE hold these Truths to be self-evident, that all Men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness.

We are made by the Creator and hence made of the Creator; we are all equal and endowed with the properties of our Creator, which in time you will demonstrate, and are entitled to pursue what our creator pursues: life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

hi fellow gods and goddesses...

when i first saw the title of this thread
i thought it was about a book with the
same title by Annalee Skarin.

she was an immortalist who linda mentions
in some of her books. i think she's
on the pilgrim's progress reading list,
but not sure.

anyway, i have her book called Temple
of God. about the book --
"anything conceived by human
thought can be brought forth into
actuality. this creative power is
waiting at all times to be made manifest
within man, transforming him from a
limited mortal into a divine being."

a passage from the book ~

thank God for the precious, divine, holy instrument, the mind, and it will be brought into obedient, loving service. its powers of creatorship will be yours to use in all their complete, fulfilling glory.

go forth to meet this precious, prodigal son of thine and embrace it with thy loving affection. then, my gracious friend, guard it forever with thy own great love. as it is filled with love it will also be filled with Light, even the "Light of Christ which is given to abide in you." then you will be able to comprehend all things. and the great powers of eternity will be yours to use. you will become a creative thinker for your every thought will be allied with power. and the "Substance of things hoped for," will be yours to use, for you "Will create by the vision-seeing faculty within you." you, like Plotinus of old, "Will create the objects of your contemplation, as mathematicians imagine and draw their figures. you will gaze with-in, and the figures of your material world will take being as if they fell from your own brooding."
