i have recently started fasting again and it's for a full 24 hour period... someone told me that it's really only necessary to fast from sunrise to sundown... i assumed that Linda suggested doing the full day fast but now am questioning if i perhaps misinterpreted... any ideas? thanks IP: Logged |

Well, actually, wouldn't you only fast from sunrise to sundown anyway? Because you don't eat when your sleeping. IP: Logged |

there is that point Sunchild... but a lot of folks ( like muslims ) will actually eat after sundown... that was the point my friend was making to me... where i live, in the winter sundown is as early as 5pm and in summer is as late as 11pm IP: Logged |

If I were to fast..I'd do for the whole day, I wouldn't bother going without food from when I woke up until sundown, I'd keep it going until I went to bed...I'd see no point otherwise.IP: Logged |

The longer a fast is going on, the more intensed the cleansing process is. Even a nights sleep is a kind of fast, that s why the meal in the morning is named breakfast, meaning break (the) fast.It can be very hard for a body wich normally never is used to go on without food, so slowly increasing the lenght of your fast is the best thing to do. It s mostly in your mind anyway that you feel like dying if you don t get food. The body normally have huge storage of energy, wich can last for weeks without giving up. I m laughing when some of my friends almost are fainting when they havn t been eating for six houers or so.Linda even recommended to fast one week a month on only water if your mind could handled it for you body.If you think that it s hard to do a 24 houers fast, do it from eight in the evening to eight the other day in the evening, and then slowly increase the time every week. But don t be to hard on your self.Just the thought that you consider fasting in your life is very good in it self. Good luckIP: Logged |

one thing that was not mentioned at all was the mindset during a fast...which i beleive is just as important if not more so than what you are fasting or how long you are fasting for. FAsting to gain enlightenment or insight or just in prayerful reverence must be the mindset. It is best not to let otohers now you rae fasting and fasting can be done many ways. you cn fast a particular item, like the catholics do during lent, for a particular reason, or you can fast for specific lenghts of time...either way the part of fasting the bears fruit and brings enlightenment, is when you focus on that inward eye, and with a meditative heart...reflect and pray.....I haven't fasted in quite some time and need to get to the point that I refocus and make it a part of my life again...but.....the meditative thought process is also a very important factor. I would fast for a full 24 hours.------------------ "There is no use trying," said Alice; "one can't believe impossible things." "I dare say you haven't had much practice," said the Queen. "When I was your age, I always did it for half an hour a day. Why, sometimes I've believed as many as six impossible things before breakfast." Lewis Carroll IP: Logged |
