i suppose i forgot that i had included my page here as i registered a good number of weeks ago. i wasn't approved to post until about a week after registering, but gave up waiting after a few days, so it was a few weeks later that i thought i'd post about the immortality institute -- didn't know of anyplace else that might be interested, either for or against. so i didn't know it was there. didn't intend that.

i just found that website incidentally. i think i was looking into kombucha, perhaps related to taoism, and it came up. as it relates to Linda Goodman's material, i thought it interesting, and a relevant inclusion here.

my veggie path is in my dna i think. my inclination was always in that direction. it was solidified when i read Fit for Life. funny, because i've been learning to listen more closely to my intuition, and the Fit for Life book is one of the earliest instances of such that i can remember. i was in the library one day and that book literally "glowed" at me on the bookshelf. it was as though my consciousness was overriding my intuition though, because i was so haughty toward faddish things, or low-brow, or things non-academic. if i were to read, back then, a book on health, it would have to be written by a phd, md, expert, who also most likely was a philosopher. .

so i ignored the book, after disdainfully picking it up and glancing it over. i was simply compelled, but my programming would not allow me to take it seriously. turns out though, i was not to be let off so easily lol. through some painful experiences and some health crises, i finally ended up quite ill, and with nothing else to do but be miserable, decided to read that book. and wow, did it change everything for me!

since then, it's like a pre-laid path i've followed -- veggie to healing....the next book that thrust itself at me was Hands of Light. Amazing it was. not long after, Linda Goodman books seemed to place themselves in my path. Gooberz didn't find me til i was prepared.

it's funny, because i've been having health issues recently as well, and in my super-market excursions, i have felt very compelled to purchase raw coconut. i saw it on the shelf one day, and almost literally, though unconsciously, stopped in my tracks, knowing i should purchase it. but my thinking overrode my intuition, and i dismissed the coconut as far too beyond my budget. a few days later, feeling much worse, i was doing some intense research online about ailments and remedies. one primary cure had a technical sounding name, so i looked up its source. it was coconut water. i was so exasperated. i know what i need...but i still don't follow through! i went on to spend extra $$ on the coconut, and some related, expensive-for-me health-food items, and my month+longer ailments seemed to disappear overnight. i felt way way better, and then, to my big surprise, received a large sum of $$ unexpectedly, for some web design work that i had completed, but was not due to be paid til much later.

it all worked out, when i took the time to be still and listen...and then act.

so that's a long story, yes, but it's all intertwined you see. the Brennan book was one of the milestones on my path. health, healing, spirituality -- it's all so interconnected, and all the connectors become more and more visible, all the time.

pretty cool. thank you for having this conversation with me, and apologies for its rambling and lengthy nature.

my lengthy reply just disappeared, though the time stamp on the forum shows 31 posts, the last one posted at 6:06. my post doesn't appear though.

(**my post reappeared after posting this, as i thought it might. )

oh well, i found the immortality website incidentally in doing a search on taoism and thought it would be something of interest at a place devoted to Linda Goodman.

her work has expanded my path that began with aikido, becoming veggie, and reading Hands of Light.

good thoughts on healing and spirituality; you have an interesting and unusual perspective. The Lion Path is slow going for me. what do you think of it?

i found the McDougall book very informative as well. i believe there is a Mcdougall retreat available for learning to eat and cook this way.

interesting the story you mention here. first, i am very interested in eastern modes of healing. i have a few very good books on qigong. second, my babe's father is Chinese, though uninterested in his native culture. it's funny because i was always the one with the chopsticks, the tai chi practice, the feng shui. and while i've noticed a lot of what i consider valuable in these practices in his parents' behavior, he disdains all of it. his mother practices western medicine as a surgeon, but often feels that she would have had more success with an acupuncture business, as it is so popular here.

as for precognitive dreams and happenings, i've had numerous of those with my babe also. one of the most recent was very powerful, and very alarming, but i feel that i received it in ample time to take measures and direct us on a different path. it was that he would have a fatal heroin (or similar narcotic) overdose event in his late teenage years. i was so distraught! but i now know that this insight is for our benefit, and an entirely benevolent occurance...because we can take action on this knowledge. it also seems that your thoughts here are echoing this phenomenon in some way. perhaps some asian healing or breathing/energy modality will be instrumental in our path.

thanks for sharing your ideas here with me. do you participate in any asian healing practices? i have some kids tai chi and meditation books that i plan to engage my child in very soon.

also, sorry if my name change was confusing. i mentioned in the first post of this thread, but maybe it wasn't very noticeable.

reflexology is a good place to start. catching problems in the early stages is easy through massaging the palms, fingers and knuckles. you can send currents of energy through your system and soothe stress with the stimulation of your scalp. these also work in massaging the soles, toes and tops of the feet. in doing the massage, if any area is particularly tender, massage through it, gently, until the tenderness dissipates. it might take several massages for healing to occur. but you can avoid full-fledged illnesses this way.

that's my limited knowledge of reflexology anyway.

you know you can write to me any time. I regret that my responses would be fewer and breifer than before because unlike you I do not change my name. therefore I have to be careful when and where I write if I am to keep any privacy. Why haven't you given me your new page link?

Wary and guarded because I don't want to change my name? Just as well, since you are so impulsive and we would never find each other again if we both kept changing our name and address

Did you not have another string here with a link to that site? I beleive I enjoyed visiting it quite a few times, but I think to say that population growth is decreasing is sophistry and rather dishonest.
Similarly, many point out that there is much land that appears to be barren that people might live on, but if that were the case they would already be living on it. It is natural to snap up all the juicy bits at first. Putting people to live in the desert just leads to wars over scarce resources. And who actually wants to live out there anyway?

permaculture -- amazing and innovative sustainability ~

Permaculture is the art and science that applies patterns found in nature to the design and construction of human and natural environments. Only by applying such patterns and principles to the built environment can we truly achieve a sustainable living system. Permaculture principles are now being adapted to all systems and disciplines that human settlement requires. Architects, planners, farmers, economists, social scientists, as well as students, homeowners and gardeners can utilize the principles of Permaculture Design.

- Larry Santoyo

Blanca Rosa Alvarez brought together several families to form a community on a barren piece of land on the outskirts of Santiago, Chile some twenty-seven years ago. As an ecological educator, she set up a small community school, led revegetation efforts, planted native trees, fruit trees, and gardens to grow the community's own food. More and more families came to join the community. The once barren land is now one of Santiago's most attractive neighborhoods. Blanca Rosa has spent this past decade working as a permaculture designer and consultant. In the past three years she established a permaculture institute in the Ecuadorian jungle. The center's main goal is to help the local community to stop selling their trees for income. They are developing and demonstrating ways to grow food in the jungle, as well as build shelters that are natural and sustainable.

http://kleiwerks.com/aboutus_argentina.php

I will make rivers flow among barren hills and springs of water run in the valley. I will turn the desert into pools of water and the dry land into flowing springs. I will make cedars grow in the desert, and acacias and myrtles and olive trees. Forests will grow in barren land, forests of pine and juniper and cypress.

Isaiah 41:18

is the immortality institute already in this forum? hmmmm.....

love seeing you.

art, literature and philosophy fueled my spiritual quest for a long time, til i began looking into sufism, kabala, buddhism, and astrology for more answers. in seeking out astrological avenues, i discovered Linda Goodman, and she illuminated a new sphere of spirituality for me that included the esoteric importance of JC. as i mentioned before, i believe it became activated for me, with some health and healing crises, that led me to become vegggie, which led to an interest in healing paths, eastern philosophies, etc....which ultimatey coincided and synthesized into all things spiritual. i became veggie about 15 yrs ago....the path is ongoing, and strengthens as it continues.
