Linda stated that the underlying theme of all the major religions (before the teachings were distorted) was physical immortality. I concur with her. ------------------ "There is no use trying," said Alice; "one can't believe impossible things." "I dare say you haven't had much practice," said the Queen. "When I was your age, I always did it for half an hour a day. Why, sometimes I've believed as many as six impossible things before breakfast." Lewis Carroll IP: Logged |

We can agree to disagree on that topic. But this is the Immortality Forum, and as such, through its strings perhaps more can come to the realization that (as humans) it is the belief in the "inevitability" of death that causes it. ------------------ "There is no use trying," said Alice; "one can't believe impossible things." "I dare say you haven't had much practice," said the Queen. "When I was your age, I always did it for half an hour a day. Of course we can agree to disagree! The belief in the inevitability of death is not what causes it. I dont feel the need to carry on with this and wont. Just stating what I have come to Know. No hard feelings, not looking to fight. IP: Logged |

I just look at that quote as talking about actual immortality, since it fits so nicely. Even though it means something else.IP: Logged |

No argument necessary, 26. You believe death is inevitable. I believe that death (like everything else that we manifest with our thoughts) is a choice. No worries! ------------------ "There is no use trying," said Alice; "one can't believe impossible things." "I dare say you haven't had much practice," said the Queen. (found these while looking for a quote for a friend )Life is eternal, and love is immortal, and death is only a horizon; and a horizon is nothing save the limit of our sight. Rossiter Worthington Raymond Oh heart, if one should say to you that the soul perishes like the body, answer that the flower withers, but the seed remains. Kahlil Gibran It is the will of God and Nature that these mortal bodies be laid aside, when the soul is to enter into real life; 'tis rather an embrio state, a preparation for living; a man is not completely born until he be dead: Why then should we grieve that a new child is born among the immortals? Benjamin Franklin, 22 February 1756 For death is no more than a turning of us over from time to eternity. William Penn. IP: Logged |

well, i also believe in immortality, be it physical or recurring!...but this quote was one of my mother's favourites:"the price of eternal youth is arrested development.." it MAY have been dorothy parker who first said it... and it contains a paradox which i have about physical immortality. what age would you choose to stay at, what ages would you prefer to skip, and would your mental age revert as well?? because i don't know that i would like to go back to the angst of, say, 21... [thinks] this is probably the wrong place for this post. how bout a new thread instead... IP: Logged |
