No, I would not. I'd take a very long time in researching if that is a good idea. After all I don't really want everyone to be immortal. Would you?

I think there are already people who can but keep mum.

But my dad ingrained in me the idea that once scientists got wind of say, 200 yr old person they would want to disect them to find out how they are different. That there would be people out there who are extremely wealthy who would pay almost anything for such knowlegde. They could ransom your loved ones for what you know, etc. Not a pretty picture.

you just have to be careful who you tell. and if you have achieved immortality hopefully oneday you would be smart enough to know who and how!!

i would LOVE to meet someone who could prove to me that they are 150 tho they look 45, say...

i also believe that should you achieve immortality it would have to include conscious awareness of your PAST lives, after all this is a continuum, right??

Why do you have to be aware of pastlives? I don't think that gives the ability...?

wel the karma pushers say foreknowledge would influence our decisions in this life...but as it is all one life and you are planning on keeping it going, the knowledge of what karma needs balancing could be a handy tool...personally i think it's a gyp to expect people to start all over again with no knowledge of the "handicap" they are carrying.

Well if you have all forever at your feet sooner or later I bet you learn about your karma. Karma doesn't have to have a clean slate to work with you.

There must be a million ways to meet the required lesson.I don't think the universe/
God has any problem being creative that way.

It may even be a better way since you retain the memory. And not likely to make the same mistake more that once or twice...

Oh now here is a thought. If we use our past lives to decide how we live in this life, like you mentioned....

then maybe I chose this particular life because it led me to this point of accepting agelessness and immortality. Maybe I kept making the mistake of believing in the inevitability of death and now finally I have got it right!

Now that is a positive thought don't you think?

By the way how did you guys reach these thoughts in your lives? My father raised me from the get go to believe we could live forever and be youthful.

my mom raised me to believe that death is a conscious decision, not if but when...and this has always panned out in my experience. a short leap to not when but if!

my biggest problem is how does one retain that childlike wonder? which is the main reason reincarnation is attractive - you get to be a baby and child again and start afresh...can you do t his as a 450 year old do you think??

well that's not bad-if your biggest problem comes down to an attitude.
Which is essentially what childlike wonder is.
I agree it is a challange. The other day I walked past a puddle, and it flashed in my mind that if I was a kid I would be playing in that mess. So I made the conscious decision to get myself in there, with a stick (luckily I had on my yellow puddle jumpers) and I began playing.
A bit awkward at first, wondering if anyone would see me. Not remembering what to do to have fun. First jumping so as not to make a big splash--as soon as I caught that thinking I made myself do it. A big ole splash, then another, pretty soon I had my stick whipping that water and finding new ways to play......I walked away with a huge grin on my face, messy jeans, feeling like a kid, refreshed. And I resolved that I will make the effort experience the world around me with the playfulness I had as a 10yr old.

Eventually it will be natural again, less contrived. But it was fun!!

I would like everyone to be immortal, after all being an immortal takes the evil from your heart and mind. So it follows that it would be a better world if everyone were immortal. I think it's pretty selfish and arrogant, to beleive that some people are not worthy to be immortal as it were.
