As you know, in "Star Signs" Linda suggests easing into fruitarianism gradually over a 15 year period. How important do you think this is in relation to physical immortality?IP: Logged |

I actually believe that the singular most important thing is belief. Faith. And I mean the faith that has you live (automatically, without having to think) what you say you believe. Do you know how many times I think "oh, shes 40, or he's 50". That unintentionally programs my mind that that is what 40, 50 look like. I should be thinking,"that person is diseased, and that is not natural" Food, exercise, etc all support the regeneration, but I think you could eat junk food and if you honestly believed, you would still be able to regenerate cellualarly.(is that a word??) I have a vegan staying with me at the moment. She is the sickliest person I know. I think some people make good vegetarians and some don't. I must confess to seeing some validity in the Blood Group diet. I'm blood group O and think I would last a week without meat.IP: Logged |

What does your vegan friend eat? What does she believe? Overall, what is her lifestyle like? But I know what u mean actually, because an old friend of mine went vegan shortly after me, and initially she looked radiantly beautiful; very clear and glowing. Then like a year later I ran into her out shopping.... and I have to say she looked sickly. There really isn't another word for it. But I don't know her lifestyle. She could be missing out on vital nutrients. She could have stopped exercising. I don't know.... and that's why I think this topic is so interesting. IP: Logged |

I could follow Linda's plan. But I just can't tell you how disturbing it is to me. To eat an animal! ! To eat a chickens period! IP: Logged |

i think linda's plans were often overly complicated, not to say convoluted. and she flagrantly disobeyed her own instructions (she was a sugarholic amongst other things) which i think may have contributed more to her death (at 70, on the dot as they say) than her actual habits! because if you talk incessantly about how something is bad for you and then go ahead and do it it will probably kill you!i agree with good girl. what you truly believe will sustain you and if you go against it it will kill you. witness any number of 100+ people who have smoked and drank and probably lived on less than ideal diets throughout the ages...including albert hoffman the inventor of lsd who recently died age 103 after a healthy life (a little heart trouble in the last year!) of ingesting lsd regularly into his 90's? honey, my friend ingests seemingly a very pure diet and has never drank but I feel there is a lack of first class protein in a vegan diet. There is lots of 2nd class protein in pulses but you have to combine in order to get the full spectrum of amino acids. I saw Gwyneth Paltrow the other day on a recent programme and she looks amazing whereas when she was on all that macrobiotic diet she looked plain miserable. And people who try and turn their dogs vegetarian? Cruel. IP: Logged |

Out of curiosity..... what does Gwyneth Paltrow eat now?Does it ever bother u to eat something that had to suffer in order to get to your plate? I just want to know how you can justify eating meat... IP: Logged |

For some folks it is not a choice. I will not go into my problems in detail, but I must consume meat. If I could safely give up meat I would. Also for many folks, cost is a factor. When meat can be had for 99cents a pound on sale....but raw salad greens are going for $4 a pound or more....bean sprouts even more costly...same for many fruits and vegetables in fresh form.... Well meat and pasta is what one eats. Or cheap salty high calorie Ramen noodles. Yippie. And like I said...some folks cannot live on only plant matter. Not all who eat meat are doing it because they really want to. I am O- and also lack certain digestive enzymes/factors that would allow me to absorb B12, Iron, and other things. Almost all plant matter sends my blood sugar up dangerously high. Meat is the only thing which has been found to lower it naturally. ------------------ Life is not about waiting for the storms to pass, it's about learning to dance in the rain.

That's an interesting condition, LEXX. I guess everyone should just eat according to the needs of their body. Of course you CAN get sufficient protein from plants, and the rule of having to combine certain foods to get all the amino acids is a myth. BUT I certainly don't believe in forcing vegetarianism on anyone. I DO know that a large consumption of animal products along with a low consumption of high nutrient foods causes cancer, cardiovascular diseases, and diabetes, among other things. But again, each person's body is unique and responds differently to each thing, so I would recommend trying vegetarianism out first, as it HAS been proven to be much healthier in general for the majority of people, but if it really does not work for you, then I don't see why you shouldn't continue to eat animal products. Everyone has a different preference as well. Some people are only vegetarian because they don't like the taste of meat. Anyway, to each his own. I'd like to try out fruitarianism. I've just heard from some places that it isn't healthy because fruits are too sugary or something... But I'm sure it does work for some people. Just like some people can live off of sunlight.Live and let live!
