Immortality, agelessness, cellular regeneration are beliefs. But what is it you base your belief upon. I always thought my father's flaw in his believing these things was that he based it on his belief in his ability to do so. Well, the problem with that is he knows he is flawed, that he has tried this or that and failed. He simply is not as great as he would like to think he is,the problem being that he know this. He feels this. For all his huffing and puffing his confidence is shallow.
I think we have to base our belief on something outside ourselves. I chose to believe in God, Christ and the Bible. I base my beliefs on his promise that 'greater things than this shall ye do', well, he raised the dead with Lazarus. So, wow! He also consistantly told those who he healed that it was their faith that healed them.
I could go on, but the point is my faith is rooted in something firm.
My question is this: Upon what do you base your faith?
