anyone else here familiar with this man? we just watched a documentary about him and his theory of singularity... quite fascinating but i have to say that i think he's a little off his nut... but that's not the reason for this post... he too believes in physical immortality but with a twist - a rather big twist... he believes that in the not so distant future ( another 30 or so years if i recall correctly ) we will be able to effectively replace all of our working parts with technological counterparts... that's a vastly simplified version of his theory... he has also "created" a diet to maintain his physical form as healthy as can be until such a time as the singularity occurs... at the time of the documentary he was ingesting approximately 200 ( not a typo, 200 ) pills a day to supplement his diet... 200 each and every day... ( kinda trumps your mere 15 Randall ) thoughts? ------------------ " Some define good as that which preserves, and evil as that which destroys; but destruction can be cleansing and purifying, for there is such a thing in both men and races as spiritual constipation, which comes from too much preservation of the status quo." William Shatner talked about him at DragonCon. Personally, I'd rather keep my own body parts.------------------ I have CDO. It's like OCD, but the letters are in alphabetical order, as they should be. IP: Logged |

Shatner said he won't be able to last another thirty years. ------------------ I have CDO. It's like OCD, but the letters are in alphabetical order, as they should be. IP: Logged |

Shatner was in the documentary momentarily... he's a funny man i agree with you Randall about keeping one's own parts... Kurzweil seems to focus too much on the biology/science of human life and doesn't seem to take into account our soul - in the film he states quite clearly that his primary motivation for pushing this is to bring back his dead father... hhmmm ------------------ " Some define good as that which preserves, and evil as that which destroys; but destruction can be cleansing and purifying, for there is such a thing in both men and races as spiritual constipation, which comes from too much preservation of the status quo."
