Does anybody know or have been in this Kumb Mela gathering? Seems is a meeting of immortal people or people with that ideology.

Also its said every new moon of the month of September in India next to Sariska forest reserve , there is big party for immortals or aspiring immortals.

I am so curious. Have anybody been there?

This event happens 4 times every 12 years.

Religious Role
The Kumbh Mela is highly popular among devout Hindu worshipers who believe that if one takes a bath in the holy waters of the river at the sacred site of the Kumbh Mela, one’s sins will be washed off forever.
A legend connects the Kumbh Mela to Hindu mythology.
According to the legend, the Gods and demons fought against each other to churn out amrita, the potion of immortality, from the ocean.
Once the amrita was churned out, it was stored in a pot (the kumbha) and the Gods, unwilling to share the immortal drink with the evil demons, sent away the pot with a divine carrier.
It is said that this divine carrier stopped over at the four places where the Kumbh Mela (Kumbh: pot; Mela: fair) is now held.

However, the actual date of start of the fair is shrouded in mystery.
The accounts of the famed ancient Chinese traveler, Hiuen Tsang, mentions a similar ritual held by Emperor Shiladitya in what is now modern day Allahabad in 644 CE.
This could be regarded as the earliest known record of the Kumbh Mela.
. . . .
… Recognizing the popularity of this event, many Hindu leaders and priests have started celebrating similar festivals under the common umbrella of Kumbh Mela to draw pilgrims to their own pilgrimage sites and boost the site’s importance in the Hindu world.
The Kumbh Mela also exhibits the power of religion and how it can unite people of all socioeconomic backgrounds and ages to gather together, enduring massive discomfort and miseries to participate in rituals that promise salvation.

Rituals of the Kumbh Mela
While ritual bathing in the rivers of the site where the Kumbh Mela is held is the most noticeable event of the festival, the Peshwai Procession, a procession of Hindu monks and ascetics, is also a large crowd puller.
The two months of the Kumbh Mela also encompass several religious discussions, preaching sessions where Hindu doctrines are taught by the religious gurus to the common man, religious musical events, and charity work.
Mass feeding of the poor and the needy, holy men and women, sponsored by wealthy Hindus visiting the event, is also a common practice at the Kumbh Mela.

More ideas about what they meant about immortality?

Thanks for your answer Mirage!

Wow I see some people actually die in this Kumbh Mela meetings because they are so so crowded!

I guess some people take it just as a tradition, or as a supersticion things to get ride of karma, but maybe besides that there are also some immortals meetings.

I am trying to reinforce my faith about immortality. Because I found something contradictory on ' Star Signs'.

Linda says she is 268 years old in star signs which was published on 1993. So... we supose she is actually born on 1724 more or less.

Then she says the dictionary webster, reminds her of school childhood memories. And that dictionaries didnt apear till 1806.

So then... she was like.. 70 years old when she was going to school?

I want to think maybe she said that because she kmew immortality was real so she wanted to show it but she didnt experience it herself.
I dont know... I am not trying to call her a liar at all I totally adore her.
I am just trying to understand this contradiction.

Linda said that "tongue-in-cheek." It was to elicit a response to help jolt people from their deathist programming. She wasn't being literal.

As long as I understood she says she wasnt being literal when she said 400 because in reality she still needed 132 years to be 400 ( so she was 268).

And she said she didnt know if the reporter wrotte that with a tongue in check or with straight face... I thought the joke was about being 400 not about being 268.
Maybe I didnt understand it well.

No, Linda encouraged us to shock others into awakeness in that way. The joke was that she kept a serious face when she said it. And then she joked again when she told her readers she was actually 268. Dry, sarcastic, Saturnine humor at its finest!
