It is a confirmed fact that a small percentage of people have genetic differences with the rods and cones in their eyes. This alters how they perceive colors. Perhaps THEY have correct rods and cones, and all of the rest of us have the genetic differences! Anywho, we see a color that has been named purple, blue, red, green, or whatever for us since childhood, but how do we really k-NOW that we are each seeing the same color? My "red" may actually be your "green," but we both call it red, because it's red to us! ------------------ "We may not know what is right, but we always know what is wrong." Also, humans can only see a very tiny bit of the entire spectrum of light. Everything we see in the entire Uni-verse is made up of varying shades of the same primary colors. But what if, in an alternate Uni-verse, there were another primary color? Or many others? We cannot conceive of this, because we can only see what we think to be the only colors in existence, but what if there were others? What if a visitor from another Uni-verse camne here and tried to describe the other primary color that we so obviously (to him/her) lack? In essence, it would be as difficult for us to comprehend another color as it would be for some One born blind to comprehend all the colors we take for granted! Then again, we are all blind when measured against all the available degrees of light that we cannot see! ------------------ Consider the circle, measure it please, All its three hundred and sixty degrees. Wasn't that fun, and haven't you found You can do it again, the other way 'round? Now that we know how many degrees, Must be accounted for nice as you please Here come astrologers, what do they say? Divide the degrees in precisely this way. Take thirty degrees for each of the signs It makes a nice wheel divided by lines. Chris Angelino IP: Logged |

How true Randall! When you think about it, most of us are practically blind...there is so much out there on both sides of the spectrum, ultraviolet and infrared that we can't see...Is it true that some animals or insects can see more of the spectrum than us? I thought I read that somewhere... IP: Logged |

I'm not sure, but I think you are correct. Most animals are color blind, though. ------------------ Consider the circle, measure it please, All its three hundred and sixty degrees. Although many animals are color-blind,there are many others who can see more of the spectrum than us apes. Some snakes, for example, can detect their prey even in total blackness because they can pick-up on the infra-red signature of their intended victim. I also have always believed that there are more colours than we can see with the two eyes that we haven't completely closed yet, perhaps if we can decalcify our third eye it will be us doing the explaining to our visitors. ------------------ I have loved,I love,I will love. Thanks, Grey! I was thinking that some species are more occularly advanced than us, but I wasn't sure. ------------------ Consider the circle, measure it please, All its three hundred and sixty degrees. Ya know, Randall. I have been asking that exact same question since I was a child. No one has been able to prove to me that what is "red" for you is "red" for me. My Mother's answer was always "red" is "red" and that's all there is to it. Stop asking rediculous questions. Pretty much the same answer I got from any of my science teachers that did more than give me a strange look. One of my science teachers in High School tried to give me a scientific answer for it. Talking about wavelenghts and all. A solid scientific answer to be sure -- but it really doesn't answer our question.... I'd really be interested in anyone else's input on this (if you promise not to give me a funny look)... IP: Logged |

Now you have me thinking... Is this perhaps another reason why some may see spirits while others don't? Animals more in tune, etc.? Is this possible? ------------------ Sendin' love your way, "your friend in spirit" IP: Logged |

i love this!this subject seem's timely as i'v just found out that my kinder age son is colorblind. he see's coors really differently than i do but calls most by the same name because we've "taught" him. maybe we did'nt teach him anything at all only brainwashed him? he's one of those kids that feels colors very profoundly too! he can guess colors more times accurately than not by the way they feel. (without looking!) he says colors give off heat. example; placing his hand over the color red it feels much hotter than blue or green to him. can anyone else validate this? i just don't get it. ------------------ yes, im new -please be kind. Hey there Kyle, Feeling colors [Archive] - SciForums.com Feeling color, smelling music, tasting light...it's a crossing of the sense. Some people naturally do this. A small percent i believe. ...and here's a pdf file I just came across. You may find it interesting too? Feeling Colors and Seeing Tastes: Kindergartners’ Learningabout. Sensory Modalities and Knowledge Acquisition. Christine Massey & Zipora Roth I have'nt experienced this myself but knew a little girl about 10 or 11 years old that also did this. She was very special to my heart! It seems this was just one of many sensory tricks she had up her sleeves. You may wish to watch and explore other concepts with your son. I'll bet you discover he is gifted elswhere too. ------------------ Sendin' love your way, "your friend in spirit"
