~~~~~~~~THE FOUR AGREEMENTS~~~~~~~~~~~
by Don Miguel Ruiz
Be Impeccable With Your Word
Speak with integrity. Say only what you mean. Avoid using the word to speak against yourself or to gossip about others. Use the power of your word in the direction of truth and love.
Don't Take Anything Personally
Nothing others do is because of you. What others say and do is a projection of their own reality, their own dream. When you are immune to the opinions and actions of others, you won't be the victim of needless suffering.
Don't Make Assumptions
Find the Courage to ask questions and to express what you really want. Communicate with others as clearly as you can to avoid misunderstandings, sadness and drama. With just this one agreement, you can completely transform your life.
Always do your Best
Your best is going to change from moment to monent; it will be different when you are as healthy as opposed to sick. Under any circumstance, simply do your best, and you will avoid self-judgement, self-abuse and regret.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This is a great book! For those of us who have read it, it is a great reminder of the little things we forget, so we could also re-read it. For those who haven't read it, it is a great little "bible" to have.
Don Miguel Ruiz also wrote "The Mastery of Love" which is also a great book.

Nephtys, you again! I was going to post the Four Agreements topic today, but you beat me to it. I did post one in "Caileah and Randall" topic yesterday. Well, two great minds think alike.

I have The Four Agreements book and cards. I also have The Mastery of Love by Don Miguel Ruiz.

Here are some from the cards:

"Communicate with others as clearly as you can to avoid misunderstandings, sadness, and drama. If all humans would communicate with impeccability of the world, all of our relationships would change. There would be no wars, no voilence, no misunderstandings."

"The problem with making assumptions is that we believe they are the truth. We make an assumption. We misunderstand. We take it personally, then we react by sending emotional poison with our word. This creates a whole big drama for nothing."

"All the magic you possess is based on your word, and you cast spells all the time with your opinions. You can either put a spell on someone with your word, or you can release someone from a spell."

"Your word is the power that you have to create; it is a gift that comes directly from God."

Alittle from the book,

OVERVIEW

The Toltecs believed that we live in a dream. They saw that most people live in the dream of the planet, or the belief systems of everyday life. The Toltecs also believed that we could also become masterful warriors and transcend the Dream of the planet with its limitions to create our own limitless Dream. For us, the Dream of the planet is our world as we know it today. It is the our societies, our governments, our belief systems, and our rules and expectations. It is the structures by which we live our lives, set our goals and strive to obtain certain things in life, such as good jobs, families, nice homes, education, status, and so on. Within this Dream may be certain basic beliefs, such as the one telling us that if we lead "good lives" and go to church/temple/mosque/we will join God after death. Although many societies today are materially rich, and we as individuals have so much in life, we are often still empty inside, searching for something more to make us happy. It is the rare one of us who feels content in life and yearns for nothing. This search for " something more" has lead us to look toward spirituality, to find God, Spirit, the source, or Jesus. We tend to believe that if we can connect with Spirit or God, we will find happiness, peace, contentment, or unconditional love, and therefore will no longer feel like something is missing.

Today, the greater openness to informtion outside traditional belief systems, or the Dream of the planet, has resulted in the blossoming of many alternatives beliefs. Spiritaulity is now in vogue. Now that we are in a new millennium, it is not a moment to soon. Our world as we know it is shifting; the energy is moving faster today than ever before on this planet. This period can be a time of tremendous tranformation if we wake up to our s-elves; or, it can be a time of tremendous devastation, tragedy, and discontentment if we are unwilling to face ours-elves. There are many paths in existence, but the path that works for us is the one that opens the heart. We know it is the path for us when it makes us say,"Yes, thats my life." Then we feel a sense of peace, and the doors to the heart melt open. This book is written for each of us, so that we may say,"Yes, that's my life."
