Pixie, how did the three wise men find the baby Jesus? Why were they considered wise men? What did they do? Those are just some things for you to think about.

Exactly Morning Storm!

Found this in reference to your statement.
Matthew 2:2-10 mentions travelers led by a STAR, coming from the East - the lands in which astrology emerged. The visitors are called "wise men," and are guided by stars. Clearly, those who wrote, compiled and preserved the Bible for us, had no opposition to astrology as a subordinate but legitimate influence.

That's a c&p, not my words.

I feel the same way about the three wise men. They had to of been astrologers. I went researching yesterday at the library and found a book that said that Joseph Smith chose April 6 to start the church for a reason. It said something about Jupiter being in the sun or something like that. I haven't got that much knowledge on that. I asked the missionaries about it and found out that it is supposedly Jesus's birthday. I looking everywhere for some things but cant find it. I congratulate you Morning Storm on being able to combine the two. I don't know if I can. I'm still looking though.

I just read March (1?) being Jesus' birthday. Not sure if that's true. Will have to research it more.

Morning Storm: went to lds.org and looked in the archives found alot of information on astrology and all of it against it. I'm confused as to how it works for you. I feel like I'm floundering in which direction to take now. Although I love the church astrology as been part of my life much longer. Not as commited to it,but part of me none the less. I also have another question. Is it the Zodiac signs in the main office and on the SLC temple doors or the constelations?

Missy, I'll have to answer your question later. It's a big birthday weekend here (my oldest daughter's yesterday, my son's today, and my youngest daughter's was two weeks ago) and we're having a huge party that begins in about 1 1/2 hours. I won't be back online until Monday. Have a great weekend! I know we will!

wow..where to begin? my father was a Baptist minister and was a very strict father, before he died my family lived an extremely strict lifestyle...he passed away when i was 4 years old and from that point on i basically lived with my beloved grandmother while my mother spent many years in therapy and under medication for severe depression..

during this time, my grandma and i attended her church, First Christian Church, of which has communion every Sunday, recites the Lords Prayer every Sunday etc...actually when i look back on it, i liked that churchs teaching style the most of any i have attended because i actually learned things while there!! i was baptised there when i was 9 years old, by my own free will...

over the years my mother and my stepfather have attended different Protestant churches, once forcing me to move my membership from my grandmothers church, which infuriated me at the time...still does to a point today. I have been a member of or attended Church of God, Prebysterian, Methodist, Pentecostal Holiness, Baptist, Mennonite, and once attended a Good Friday service at a Kingdom's Hall/Jehovah Witness.

since 1989 i have been a member of a Baptist church, but have never been a very active member until about a year or so ago..at which time other things began to happen in my life that proved to me that i have chosen the right church and path for me to follow at this time...but, i half jokingly call myself the Rebel Baptist, the James Dean of the Southern Baptist Conventions, because of my interest in astrology, tarot cards, ...have many friends who are Wiccans, and several good friends who are gay/lesbian..the "worst" sins of the Baptist faith..according to some anyway...

i feel that it is my own thought processes that allow me to be like i am, i enjoy the teachings from my pastor and the deacons and Sunday School teachers of my church, but i choose to take the teachings of the Bible and utilize them into my life and my life's situations...I am the only person who will answer for my actions at the time of my death, no-0one else, nor will I answer for another persons actions....only me...therefore, i try to love unconditionally, but i can't condemn someone for being gay, when i truly believe that a sin is a sin no matter what and no sin is greater than another, therefore, it is not my place to tell say my friend Kevin that he will burn in a hell for who he chooses to love...i will not condemn him, nor hate him for his practices..

like someone else said here, accept all for what they believe...i like that and try to follow it as well...

as far as the star and the wise men, i have always, ALWAYS followed the same thoughts that everyone seems to share here about that...always.

The sins you mentioned for the Baptist church, such as homosexuality, are major ones in the Catholic church.

Missy,

Every single time I try to answer your question, something prevents it. One time my computer even crashed. I think it must be for a reason. If you want to finish our discussion privately, please feel free to email me at Auriel@Linda-Goodman.com . I know more than most, and I guess that's not supposed to be public knowledge at this time. For some reason, I keep questioning if you have received a Patriarchal Blessing....mine fits to a tee....and has helped me a lot with my spiritual beliefs....it's very different than most, but it doesn't feel right talking about it. It has helped me on my spiritual path and to know there's much more than the average member understands....

Hehe, Soma.

My family is Jewish, but my Grandfather (1st in his generation to come to the US) believed in Judaism for tradition and family's sake. Holidays brought us together as a family, but not to observe "god". Instead of the Haggadah, my grandfather would sometimes read contemplations or a speech he prepared about the family and our history, as most of his siblings and both parents died in the holocaust. So holidays were also a time of remembrance.

Now, I am happily a-theistic.

I too am surprised at the mix of backgrounds on this board!

Pixie, I am wondering what your 4th house looks like? I am very curious.

I have Venus in the 4th so I tend obsure the bad stuff and only see the good. My childhood seems a thousand years long there was so much going on. Summer houses, and lakes, and games. I don't know if I can summarize.I remember a lot of road trips with me complaning in the backseat. We traveled a lot and were a big big family. That's probably why we went on road trips. I was one of many, I didn't really seem like I had an identity until I left for boarding school.

Looking back is nostalgia for me, which originally meant going back in pain. I have so many emotions looking back. Did anyone else have a one-eyed cat or a know a dog with a missing tail? Than there was that cute cousin with big eyes...

Hey Natasha,
I don't know my houses off-hand. Let me check a site that will do it and let you know. Houses are actually something I want to learn more about.

I believe my 4th house is in Libra. And I am not sure what that means. Again, that is one of the subjects I am interested in.

Pixie here is some info

The Fourth House
Home Life and the Base of Operation

The fourth house of the chart is your base of operation; in a material sense, your home, in a more spiritual sense, your soul. Psychological roots, including family or racial traditions, are among the affairs of this house. It is associated with real estate and property, or your home and your security.
Libra influencing this house suggests that you are very much in need of roots. You want to own your home and possessions, free and clear, and you need this for your emotional security. You appear very peaceful and quiet, but until you are well anchored in life, you will experience much inner restlessness and vacillation. Your home is the balancing point in your life. You need to have your abode attractively decorated, and filled with congenial people.

It's from this website http://www.astrology-numerology.com/housecusp-4th.html

I feel pretty similar in my need for a home, I have Venus in the 4th. The 4th house can also be your workplace or your "homebase".

Well, brought up Church of England like most people here and i was actually confirmed at age 13...

but afterwards i realised maybe the establishment wasn't based on tenets i could really accept.

By the time i was hitting 15 i was becoming seriously interested in cosmology and larger scale happenings and from then until now i've essentially been putting together my own theory which is something of a mishmash between physics and esoterica.

My home lifes' been interesting, I grew up in a Pub and usually without much money since i was sent to a private school, which turned out to be a terrible decision financially and psychologically.

My mother was a divorcee and I have one half-sister aged 37, who has 3 children and is happily married.

Ethnically my family is fairly bland although there's alot of scottish blood (we have our own tartan) running in me.

hinduism is very deeply connected with astrology .
in my early teens i thought astrology and the rest was just idiotic crap;then something happened when i was 14 which dramatically changed my perception about astrology and i became a devoted student.

Natasha,
according to that link you posted about 4th houses, if mine is Libra, it says this
Libra
Libra influencing this house suggests that you are very much in need of roots. You want to own your home and possessions, free and clear, and you need this for your emotional security. You appear very peaceful and quiet, but until you are well anchored in life, you will experience much inner restlessness and vacillation. Your home is the balancing point in your life. You need to have your abode attractively decorated, and filled with congenial people

And I can see that being true.

I was raised an atheist, my Mom's family is historically Bretheren, though (although I didn't even know what that entailed until I learned about it the other semester).
