may sound silly...

But I have some garlic that got too old and now three of them have sprouted and have long shoots coming up out of them. Now I can't throw them away because I'll feel guilty! heh!

So... how do I grow these little suckers? Throw them in some dirt in a pot and put them on the window sill?

for a million years they dream ..and the fog conceals and hides and eats our souls ..before they open up their eyes again ..how far we'll be ..remember me

id imagine just some water with a bit of plant food to grow the roots out a bit before you actually put them in some compost (not soil - COMPOST!)

but im not exactly Alan Titchmarsh...anyone else here to any gardening?

I always grow garlic, just put them in a pot, and water them and you'll have garlic bulbs

Hi, about the garlic it is worth your while to try and let them grow w/ minmal care. However, were the cloves from the grocery store and are they organic?

I did get them at a grocery store but I don't think they were organic.

*goes to look for a pot to plant them in*

LOL, I swear, w/o going into to much of an irate tangent session (!) Typically anything that you could potentially grow from a grocery store has a high rate of failure. The growers of any sort of plants now are using so much unwarranted technology that They genetically modify everything (arrrrrrrrrrrr) Like If I were to grow the eyes from a potato there really would be no edible fruit. I would really like to see how they turn out! Good Luck!

Humans have been genetically modifying everything through selective breeding programs for over 6,000 years!

Its more the chemicals and stuff they put in to make them more "palatteable" than GM.

That's so interesting BugginOut I never thought of that.

I do know that i love to eat lemons and when I was a kid sometimes the seeds would get in the bottom of the dishwasher, and sometimes from the hot water I guess we would find a sprouted one! And it was pretty cool.

And didn't your mothers tell you if you ate an apple seed it would grow into a tree inside you?? or maybe that was just my mom?!
