I didn't want to mess up Oxy's thread, so... Here is what has thus far transpired:____________________________________________ N_wEvil posted January 28, 2003 08:55 AM -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Yays! I managed to drag myself out of bed at 1:30pm today. Student life - gotta love it! ********************************************* proxieme posted January 28, 2003 11:12 AM -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Aaergh, you lazy Brit. Iiiiiiiiiiii woke up at 7 AM this morning to get to class. Aaaaafter getting in late last night from another class. Aaaaaaand I had to walk through the 18 F degree cold to get to both of 'em. With no shoes on. Heck, no feet even. I hobbled, ***HOBBLED*** I say, across campus. Twas sad. ******************************************** theFajita posted January 29, 2003 01:51 AM -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I went to school after stopping home after work for a quick snack of muenster cheese and then typed a homework paper due that day which of course I left sitting on the printer and didn't hand it in OK sorry way off topic oxywoman please forgive me I am and like an absentminded professor sometimes Ok so professor is pushing it ------------------ Food is the only art that nourishes! ____________________________________________ To which I say the following: So, besides rendering problems (N_w) and super-hectic schedules (Fajita), how're things going on the classroom front? And now. Hm. And now I shall put some dancing penguins on this page which I have snagged from Auriel's Birthday thread, because all things Mary Poppins make me happy. Guten Abend. I've now a report to write, and a wake-up bell of 7 AM (tis now, oooh, 2:32)... unless there's a bout of snow/freezing rain/sleet...and there very well may be... THAT'S what the penguins are doing - They're dancing the Dance of Wintery Mixes

They're going great, and my profs are really cool. And, the best part, I'm actually excited about a course's subject matter for the first time in, hell, forever. ...Well, fer a while, anyway. I'm going to have to either find another job and/or cut back my hours, though - I get offa work around 12:30, get back around one or so, and can't wind down til 3. That, and the fact that I'm working through just about every evening (my most productive time) is killing my homework potential. Sooooo... Hey - re: the chocolate thread: do ya'll have "Trader Joe's" grocery stores down there? They are absolutely the best...in no small part because they sell chunks of Godiva chocolate for $3.49 a pound... Jumping back a bit - is your English class Composition or Lit? I completely relate w/ the math difficulties - I have no (or few) worries when it comes to understanding out there theories, but when it comes to the actual nuts and bolts, I'm done --- where mathematicians see wonderful, symphonic meaning in a board full of equations, I see unintelligible numbers and squiggles. And I transpose digits. That can't help. What're the probs that you have w/ it? IP: Logged |

absolutely *(&*$£^&* terrible.Having stayed up for almost 40 hours straight (mostly on 2 jugs of coffee) to hand in my compositing project, I then get a scabby mark for it because I didnt include any sketchwork. Although the breif didnt specify any sketchwork. At all. On the upside I only have two full-size paintings and three storyboard cells to complete and mount, then im clear until the contextualising essay and production of my final film proper begins. Of course im totally going to have to redo my animation showreel because it sucks - horribly. But since i have 14 weeks to finish all of this it shouldnt be too much of a strain. Lets' just hope the light at the end of the tunnel isn't a train... Oh, and we're all overdrawn to the antarctic and back and our next loan cheque doesnt come through until april! arrgh! whinging over - apart from that i've just had some very nice Port and a couple of ciggies after polishing up Geminia little more IP: Logged |

Although the breif didnt specify any sketchwork. At all. That's b/c professors are all closet sadists. Every one of 'em. And they all think, nay *KNOW* that theirs is the only class that their students are taking... and that no one works outside of school. Or, you know, has a life. Ah, but as far as the time it's taking you to work on your projects, I've no sympathy - perfection takes time, and I'm sure you'll not settle for anything less (that being Aquarius' closet side, I understand). You'll post a pic of Geminia when you're done, right? And, there's no reason for posting this pic, but for the fact that I like it:

first off i misspelt it - Gemini is that track I posted up, heh (but here it is again for pimpage sake - http://www.3dap.com/hlp/hosted/wevil/music/geminiv2.mp3 )Seond..well, considering we have a (wait for it...wait for it...) grand total of 5 hours lectures a week!!!! and we're not even taught by professors, more ex-industry guys holding MA's it can hardly even be counted as a full course, most of what we get done really is totally off our own backs, sad to say. Of course the downside is we can totally rip the course assignments to peices for being stupid considering the pace of technology in the 3D insustry is such that on the technical side, we're normally more up on it than the tutors! heh. Oohhhhhhhhh, it's one of your songs. I can't listen to those b/c I have a sh*tty connection. (string of beats...wait....wait...wait...beatbeat...wait...wait...wait...bea...wait...)Wha? It's not profs? Aw, the poor guys deserve a break - they prolly just don't know much about effectively teaching a course. Of course the downside is we can totally rip the course assignments to peices for being stupid considering the pace of technology in the 3D insustry is such that on the technical side, we're normally more up on it than the tutors! heh. Gaw, it's like that w/ all comp-based courses, I think. I have a few friends that have to shell out US$100 per book (what's that? like 3 GBPs now? ... ha ha, geez I'm funny) per semester b/c the publishers know that they'll be obsolete next term and they want to make as much money as possible. Thaaaat's why I go with good ole' liberal artsy stuff. 'Cept for some PoliSci fields, you can always find older stuff that's valid and lying around. Well, that fact coupled w/ the fact that I am approaching the level of expert BSr - a necessary skill if one wishes to pursue a degree in any of the Social Sciences No, really - I can just spout off a buncha tripe, and people'll nod and say, "Oh, really? Wow..." and I'm like, "No, I just made that up - I'm talking out of my arse, man..." A couple people've even said variations of, "I love it when you say something in class - I'm always glad b/c I know that you'll say something relevent and intelligent," and, again, I have to say, "That's good, because I've no idea what I'm talking about."

the ONLY half decent lecture we get started yesterday which only goes on until may, which is actually with a PhD. We cover a little bit of social science because the course is related in with film theory and therefore culture stuff...but the focus is entirely practical and they only bolted the modules on because the university "requires" one essay a year from each student...or something. Strangely enough I enjoy more than animating....And as for songs, try right clicking and then "save target as" - works for me IP: Logged |

I HAD Trader Joe's in Cali...and they don't have them here and beleive me I have emailed them. What I do is have friends and family through out the U.S. send me cans of their spiced chai latte because it is the best spiced chai latte and chocolate spiced chai latte EVER!!! I am so addicted to that but I figure that vice is better than some others But I do buy hunks of Venezuelan chocolate from Whole Foods Market. And I stick it in the fridge. and it tastes soooo good No I am not crazy! Just hungry! Well I think it's great that we are all in school and taking a shot at learning and stuff! Go us! ------------------ Food is the only art that nourishes! IP: Logged | |
