Yay N_dubya!!! I'm glad you got in, even if it did bring the doom of shifting through red tape. But, paperwork's paperwork and must be done. Such is the lot of our lives. I'm seriously considering doing the Peace Corps thing after a graduate, and I've heard that there's an insane amount of application time involved around that; so I'll wish you luck on yours and you wish me luck on mine, and we'll see how it all turns out in the end. As for my end of the bargin, I bet you'll be fine (I'm sending good "get focused on painful but necessary bureaucratic bs" vibes out to ya). Harpyr - Props to N_w for pointing you towards mysmilies.com; tis a fun site. Some of the stuff you may get used to linking to may disappear, though, so it's best to keep an eye er two out. Perhaps my faaavorite smiley in the whole wide world up and left a few days ago (a cool little winking guy giving a thumbs up)...sigh. Don't worry so much about trying to control yourself - post away! IP: Logged |

Gezusplezus - good luck. I'm not inherently organized enough to find that many bank statements. I'd just have to call in. Yep, the Peace Corps - but it's not all about altruism. On the selfish side, I'd like to travel and get (completely) immersed in another culture, learn another language or two, and get a portion of my federally subsidized student loans forgiven. (I thought of all those reasons as something to shoot back at my Libra/Cancer/Virgo/oftentimespaininthearse Pop.) I'm doing an Alternative Spring Break this semester, and when I mentioned it to him off hand I got, "What? Why are you spending your hard-earned money to go someplace and build other people's houses?" As far as your future travel...where to? The US or another western country, or points East or South? If the latter, I know the Peace Corps has a technological aid program that helps NGOs in developing or stressed nations set-up effective...I dunno, stuff...whatever an NGO needs to communicate effectively with others and/or organize resources for their goals. Does the UK have a similar program? (Although I know that you may be hesitant to go through a Gov't program...) IP: Logged |
