I wanted to change my e-mail addy from my hotmail acct. b/c I was just getting too darned much spam, and I thought I'd make it simple and make it
"proxyme".
Apparently, at least one other person had had the same notion, so I tried
"proxieme",
and it worked.

And I'm much, much too lazy to remember multiple user names.

Somehow, Hopeful's sounds much more noble.

Mine is an adaptation of a family name.
Harper is the last name of the Irish immigrant that moved to Alaska and married an Athabaskan Indian that was my great-great grandmother.
I was searching for a stage name for myself,(I used to want to be an actress)and I liked the name Harper as a first name and my friend said that the last name Rigby would go well with it. Then another friend suggested switching the e in Harper with the y in Rigby just to make it interesting and I lovved it. Well, I eventually dropped the Rigbe and Harpyr stuck. I've yet to find anyone else using the name with that spelling so I like it for the uniqueness of it too. (There's that Leo rising)

I also like that it reminds me simultaneously of a harp playing minstrel (I think that's where the origins of the name Harper come from) and also the image of the mythical creature, a harpy.
Maybe harpyr would be a harpy hunter? or harpy tamer, even?

La-Tee-Da is a term that reminds me of Mardi Gras and New orleans, plus, it was the name of my favorite restaurant in Key West. Nothing as noble as Hopeful's, but fun none-the-same!!!

well I just changed from AmberVonSchriek to this name.

I use this name on almost every other message board I post to.

I picked it because I'm a witch and I've always had an affinity for Avalon and Arthur legends

Oxy=Air and I have lots of air in my chart
Chick...well, I guess that's self-explanatory. Actually, my literature teacher from 8th grade helped me come up with it...we still keep in touch. He's a wonderful Cancer with Scorpio Moon and Rising.

Amber now I think of that song "avalon" when I read your name...

Oxychick is that the same one who sent you the yummy chocolates??

My name comes from my reallife nickname which is Danita (little Donna, because my mom is Donna also) and my aunt and uncle always called me Danita Fajita for fun. Plus it's a Mexican food and I am half Mexican so it fits like a glove

"Spiritua" is a combination of English, Hebrew and semi-Latin. "Spirit" is the English part. "a" is the Hebrew part. In Hebrew, the suffix "a" means "of God/Dess". The semi-Latin is the "u" part. It isn't actually Latin, but I was influenced by Latin to create a kind of bridge in the word. Technically, the meaning of "Spiritua" is "You are the spirit of God/Dess."

guess what, Venera is my real name It is an old Roman name, it says "Venus" in English. Somebody had registered Venus already at that time, so I thought I might go with my real name. I like the last part of it, which is actually the name of the ancient egyptian Sun God- Ra.

Great Names EVERYONE
My Sister gave me this name when I moved to Alaska. I had come here for a brief visit (my first time here) and I was so amazed with the sky !I couldnt stop talking about how beautiful the Moon was and how it looked as though I could reach out and touch it ! Oh and the guy I fell in love with that was also a main topic. So when I just couldnt stay away from him or the Moon.....well she named me !
My Sister is Sistersacredheart and my best friend is Sisterdreamwatcher!

Melissa

I get called Jax by my friends. The jjj part comes from Triple J, Australias best radio station in my opinion, a great combination of great alternate music, humour and interesting stuff, a few of my favorite things. Its also my email addy, so its easy to remember. I should try to be more original. I love everyones names here in Linda Land. Great thread, great idea Hopeful!

Fajita...I ALWAYS think of Roxy Music's Avalon when I think of Amber!!

I use a few board names, so I'll list them all and give the explanation, that way if you ever venture over to Ezboard and run across one of these you'll know it's me!

JustAmanda=because Amanda is my real name and well..nothing special, I'm JUST AMANDA! This is the only board I use this name on.

Bernadette1216=I used this login when I first came here for 2 reasons. The first one is Bernadette is a name I have used on Ezboard since 1998 and 1216 is my bday. The second reason is I was new here, and frankly, I don't like to display much personal information on a new board, because, this is a PUBLIC forum, and in all the good people reading, there are sure to be some not so good people reading...and I just don't feel comfortable alot of times, releasing my real name at first, until I get to know the people...does that make sense?

Bernadette=This is the name I first used on Ezboard in 1998. I was at John Taylor's website and wanted to play on his message board. Everyone there, and Amber can atest to this, had names that had something to do with Duran Duran. I, never follow the grain, and decided to be unique. I chose Bernadette because all my life I have been told that I look like Bernadette Peters. Someone recently told me that it's not so much in pictures as it in person. So, I became Bernadette.

Bernsie1=When I first logged in Ezboard, Bernadette was already taken by someone else, on the GLOBAL setting. Which means, that person could go to any board and post under that name. I wanted that name, so registered under the LOCAL setting, which meant I could only use it on John's board.
When I ventured out to other boards, I had to come up with a global name. I picked Bernsie because that was a nickname my friend Kevin gave me...and the ONE was just a number to make it unique.

DecemberSoul=I have been posting some on a delphiforum, and since I had a name there years ago, but have since forgotten it, I needed to set up a new one. I thought DecemberSoul sounded sooooooo cool...December is the month of my birth.

whew..longwinded and boring! HA!

Dearest sistereatinglemons
You are a kick ! Listen I had a dream about you last night ! I am getting ready to go back to school and it has been on my mind lately so anyway......I am in class (which in my dream I had been attending for a long time) we were having a class disscusion and you were in the front row talking. You made mention that the topic we were talking about had come up on a forum that you go to. I looked up and said,"Danita Fajita?".
Turns out that we had known each other all along !!
LOL I just thought you would get a laugh out of that.
So have a great day sistereatinglemons

What great stories! Sisterchasingmoon - I was wondering about your name. How romantic! And Afrodite - you know your name means "given buy the foam" or "delivered by the foam" (of the waves), since Venus/Afrodite was born by the waves...It's beautiful.
I chose Stella Polaris since I'm born under the polar star...
