Despite all the controversy and ill feelings some may have about America, it's still my home.

On July 2, 1776, John Adams talked about how America should celebrate its birthday: "I am apt to believe it will be celebrated by succeeding generations as the great anniversary festival. It ought to be solemnized with pomp and parade, with shows, games, sports, guns, bells, bonfires, and illuminations from one end of this continent to the other, from this time forward for ever more."

Yes, this is my home and I love this country. For that I am willing to celebrate!

But I do not hold much love for the government that rules this wonderful country (big surprise!). John Adams would be sickened.

"Independence Day" is quickly becoming a very ironic holiday.
