okay.. i reread your verse again and i wanted to say that it's very good.. i'm a bit groggy myself and well..it does sound like you've tried everything to go to sleep.. i wish i could think of a useful suggestion to help.. i know how crazy sleep deprivation can make a person. and i mean crazy in a somewhat literal sense.. i've had a pretty much psychotic break from reality in the past partly because i was so sleep deprived. how bout a big stick to the head? just kidding.. i like to think that there is a reason for everything and perhaps it would help you to try to figure out what useful or creative purpose your insomnia could have. like your writing perhaps? i dunno. just sort of rambling here before i go off to try to force myself to go to sleep as well. my mind will race over the events of the day and anticipating the next so much that it keeps me awake for hours sometimes. but i find that it's the best time for me to do journal work. it's easiest for me to do stream of consciousness type writing in the wee hours of the morning.. find the purpose in it and perhaps that is the key to moving past this trial. remember..this too shall pass..

Aw, that stinks Scatbug ! Currently I`m the opposite with an overload of Benadryl for an allergic reaction. The stuff makes me so groggy; I almost fell asleep weeding the shady fern patch. Maybe it would give you some welcome relief. juniperb IP: Logged |

Valerian tea.Stinky but effective. The worst sleep-deprivation I ever had was when I stayed awake for three days to complete an end-of-term sound project. This extreme situation occurred during a semester where I got 4-5 hours of sleep per night, then slept on weekends, because I had a class, lab and work schedule from hell. I am told my insane mutterings of this period were quite entertaining I literally had no other time in which to complete this albatross. I went through white-outs, and ended up with auditory hallucinations -- I knew I was hearing all kinds of things that just weren't happening. I turned the assignment in, then went home and slept for 15 hours. Sanity returned, I think. I am the bad example to not follow. Since then I learned about Valerian tea, and bought a rather lovely CD with ocean waves on it that helps relax me. Camomile tea or a hot bath is good, too, and they say that it's important to set a routine, just like in childhood. Too many schedule changes can upset the inner clock. I hope your insomnia resolves itself; sometimes what a person really needs is to be gentler with oneself. cheers, Lunargirl IP: Logged |
