Heya -

I know that I haven't responded to much lately; ya'll have been so wonderful...I will respond...tomorrow (I'm tired ).

So...today we got in to see the OBGyn who delivered my sis. He patiently listened as Jase & I told him about my symptoms over the past few weeks, and then immediately brought us into the next room for a sonogram...

He manipulated the wand for a bit and then said, "Oh...I see a heartbeat..."
Jason and I went nuts - there it was clear as crystal flipping away. We sat in awe for a bit. The Dr. said that the fetus is about a week to a week and a half in development behind where it should be according to textbook descriptions, but that it's doing well otherwise. That is, the yolk sac and the fetus size are syncing up, apparently.
After he left (er, actually before he quite closed the door), Jase and I were up and hugging before I got my pants back on.
I didn't know that I'd be that relieved, and I don't think that Jase knew the same for himself, either. We kissed and laughed and held eachother, ecstatic in the news.

Heh...if Jase wants to fill ya'll on the rest, I'll let him handle that bit.

Hint: We've never had quite so many people direct smiling-bemused-ish looks at in the span of one day.

i'm still in awe really, just amazed at it all, and very happily so if i do sayso myself. if you look at the fetus, the squarish ooking thing is the baby and the tiny grey dot in the center of it is the heart, and seeing that beating away (about a hundred fifty beats per minute) was absolutely incredible, and at first i didnt see it. So amazing thats all i can really say

OK, wait - an explanation...

#1 = The Yolksac
#2 = The Fetal Body
#3 = The Heart (!!!)

Oh, and re: the cramps: He said that they're unfortunate (for me...and everyone around me ), but that they're not indicative of any harm to the kiddo.

Every prayer I have made has included all three of you, for the greater good of All.

I have to say (only now), that I just couldn't believe the little feller/fellera hadn't made it. Sometimes we just don't know what to say about a pregnancy -- for fear of getting hopes up!

{{{ hugs }}}

You guys are so special -- thanks for sharing all your joys and sorrows with us.

OMG!! You're killin me, guys! I'm so glad for you, but I'm afraid to be TOO exhuberant, cuz, well ya never know, ya know? They say you shouldn't even tell people about a pregnancy until the 1st trimester has passed without incident, but oh, it's so hard not to.
Anyhoo, I'll continue imploring the universe to cocoon you 3 in it's healing light.

And, BTW...Thank you, Corri and Jason for making this very personal and private situation ours too.

(Interesting note: Uranus in the first house, I think it lends itself to the personal life being made public)

Thanks ya'll!!!

We're happy beyond happy...and, you're right...we probably shouldn't've told until the first trimester was done, but...

Oh, and I had pics of the sonogram up there, but while at work an East Indian co-worker of mine, while gushing over it, said, "I would not show this to too many people. Just a superstition." I thought...heh, y'know, maybe he's right. Or at least maybe it's not something that needs to be placed on a public message board. I dunno.

Erm...back to reading Supreme Court briefs!

Yeah -- next thing ya know, just like Tony and Cherie Blair's kid Leo, somebody'll buy up your child's domain name, and say to them all their lives, "I saw you nekkid in da WOMB on the Internet, boy/girl!"

Jest jesting,
