I was just reading up on some stuff online for a MUN conference this morning, and one of my friends IM'd me to tell me that the illusinist Roy (think Siegfried and Roy) was mauled by one of his tigers at a show yesterday (I think). Apparently, the tiger tried to bite his arm, and so he smacked it with his microphone, causing it to then decide to go for his throat instead. Stage aides finally distracted the tiger using fire- extinguishers (jeez, you think they'd be better prepared!) It was the tiger's first time in the ring. Roy is in critical but stable condition in some hospital. No news on the tiger. Poor tiger. I think it's going to have stage-fright for the rest of its life!

Hopefully the tiger will NEVER be on stage again but will be retired to a peaceful haven, to live the life the divine intended!!
I understand it was NOT the tigers first time in the ring but had ,in this instance, been forced into the ring .

Four leggeds have bad hair days and ill days as we do and their reluctance to 'preform' is an indication of that. When forced, they act out in instinct which appears to be mean/horrifying when it is speaking it`s own language to tell you leave me to H**L alone.

Roy should have cancled the show when his star money making preformer said NO and he wouldn`t be suffering today

Shame on those who use four leggeds to make their living and putting the needs of them behind the almighty buck !!

I am praying for the soul of Roy and may God/dess`s will be done with his physical

Yikes! I heard about that. I think it has something to do with Mars, personally.
There's been a string of dog attacks (mostly on little kids ) in my home town as well in the last 4 months.
Mars is stirring aggression up, especially when in went retro. I think it's out of retro now, and pulling away. (PHEW!)

*sigh*
I wish I could feel sorrier for Roy, but I can't. I (don't yell at me) feel really bad for the tiger! As you said, juni, four leggeds act on instinct. If they forced that tiger into the ring, then that is even worse than if it was its first time.
jeez, what people won't do for a pretty penny!

alchemiest, yes, sadly money is at the bottom of it. If it wasn`t for the four leggeds, they would just have another Vegas show. I can`t feel too sorry for him either; it goes with the territory Just pray they don`t decide to put him (tiger) down. That would be absolute injustice.

Tiger, Alligator Found in N.Y. Apartment

NEW YORK - A tiger and an alligator found in a Manhattan apartment were sent to an Ohio wildlife preserve Sunday while their owner recovered from bite wounds inflicted by the more than 400-pound cat.

Police said Antoine Yates, 31, would face reckless endangerment charges after he gets out of a hospital in Philadelphia, where he fled. He was listed in good condition.

A team of animal control officers, police and Bronx Zoo workers removed the animals from Yates' fifth-floor apartment in a Harlem housing project on Saturday.

Wes Artope, director of the city's animal shelters, said the tiger, an orange and white Siberian-Bengal mix, had been kept in the apartment since he was a 6-week-old cub. The 20-month-old tiger now weighs at least 425 pounds, Artope said.

"He's huge," Artope said.

The tiger and the 5-foot-long alligator, both in good condition, were taken first to a local shelter, then to a Long Island animal sanctuary and then to Ohio, Artope said.

"Clearly this tiger should not have been in any place in New York City outside of a zoo," Mayor Michael Bloomberg told reporters Sunday.

Yates was taken into custody Saturday night at the University of Pennsylvania Hospital in Philadelphia, where he was being treated for lacerations to his leg, police said.

Authorities believe he went to Philadelphia after checking out of a New York hospital on Friday with bites to his arm and leg.

Officers first responded to a call on Wednesday that Yates had been bitten by a dog, but police said they later received two anonymous calls saying Yates had actually been bitten by a large wild animal.

Residents at his apartment building told responding officers that they had seen the tiger.

Authorities used a camera to monitor the animals in the apartment before shooting them with tranquilizer darts.

they just don`t learn
