My Step-Sister went to the hospital 2 nights ago with a high temperature (fluctuating, high of 102.7), chills, a headache, and a very fast heart rate. They don't know what's wrong with her, even after a spinal tap last night. Please pray for her. Her name is Brianne and she's 19. IP: Logged |

I realize that things must sound awfully bad for my fam, but they're not, really. Things just keep happening. My Dad: All I know is that Tuesday at about 9:00 she called to say her heart was racing and she was having palpatations and felt hot. Kevin took her to the hospital and they got her heart rate down from 150 to near normal. Since then they've run a battery of tests and have ruled out viruses, the flu, her sinuses. They did a spinal tap on her yesterday evening and should get the results today. I'm starting to think that it sounds like something got her hypothalamus out of whack. IP: Logged |

Um. I heard in the news that doctors across the country are worried about an "extreme form of the flu" entering this country. They say they're running out of flu shots and this could turn into an epidemic. Then again, the media is just scaring us. My mother forced me to take a flu shot but I don't trust it.I hope she is better. -StarLover IP: Logged |

As far as I heard last night, she's feeling better - still tired, still not quite up to speed - but out of the hospital. The spinal tap culture came back negative, so there's no meningitus; and it wasn't the flu (they tested for that, too). At this point, they don't know what it was/is. Thank ya'll for your concern and help. IP: Logged |

*whew* I'm glad to hear she's allright.A young street medic who was in Miami came down with bacterial meningitis and died. Best to be on the look out for such symptoms and get onself to the hospital promptly. IP: Logged |
