from my understanding, guides are spirits who have lessons they have to fulfill. the other realm is another dimension of life, in a way like ours here on earth. they choose people to guide and teach them whatever it is the person is working on, and the guides in turn learn through the experience of the person in their own quests.though i think my interpretation is rather limited, and there are knOwflakes here who know much more than i do. i do hope they will share their thoughts too. some people get the opportunity to meet and talk to their guides. some don't, for whatever reason the souls had agreed upon. there are four ESP methods we can develop: clairvoyance, clairaudience, telepathy, and telekinesis. the first 3 are commonly observed in communicating with spirits and guides. I've seen guides during meditation, but must admit that I haven't been practicing much for a while. I feel my mom around sometimes. Other than that, I just sense protection... I'll think more on this, see if I can describe this better...

What are your experiences? There's this lady at this shop down in Occoquan who swears that she can see some around me, in particular a large panther-ish cat (but that she doesn't usually see animals as a person's "main" guide). We just got talking and she said that she can see those of people, and she didn't tell me about 'em until I asked (and, no, she got no profit from this). She told me general characteristics, but said that I had to find out the rest on my own. IP: Logged |

Prox, ok so there wasn`t any insight in that post. The panther, in my belief, would be your totem, your spirit animal guide/protector. It is completely different than your soul/spirit guide. Mine, btw, is an owl  We don`t choose them per say, they choose us. I always thought a four legged would be mine and I was so surprised when an owl made it`s requested appearance. The sighting of the panther means it`s beeing extremely vigilent at this time. Perhaps by all the prayers and lite sent to you and girly bull. That's very interesting, juniperb.
The reading actually happened last spring and summer, first in April or May and then in June. She said that this (black) panther had been with me from childhood, that it was always with me (while some of the spirit guides came and went as needed, or came to the fore and then receeded as needed); and had always acted as strength and protection, but in a gentle way. I had always felt an affinity with them in particular (with all "big cats", but in particular with them...and with large birds of prey, but that's a different story). The odd thing is that I began to feel a pressure on my left side, and immediately thereafter she said, "She is to your left right now, leaning against you, looking up."After reading what you had said, I put in a search for "black panther" and "spirit totems", and came up with this:

http://wolfs_moon.tripod.com/shadowlpanther.html The first is a general description of the black panter totem and of those two-leggeds (they use phrase; it made me think of you) by whom it walks. It struck a cord, with some of the specific examples mirroring events in my own life.
The second is an elaboration upon that totem type (encompassing the above but expanding upon it)...and it seems to especially fit my present circumstances (and gripes  ). Very interesting, indeed.

"I'm still interested in learning more about spirit guides."hi sweets! the best way to learn is to tune into yoursELF, and be sensitive towards your surroundings. sometimes what we hear out there, isn't necessarily the truth or within our grasp of understanding. find the you of you, that's where your guide(s) will be.
