Man Finds Pickled Dragon in Garage
Mr. David Hart of Oxfordshire made an interesting discovery in his garage recently: a 2 1/2-foot-tall jar containing what appears to be a baby dragon preserved in formaldehyde. It was left there decades ago by Hart's father, Frederick, who may or may not have been a porter at London's Museum of Natural History around the turn of the last century. Papers accompanying the jar indicate it was presented to the Museum in the 1890s by a group of German scientists trying to perpetrate a hoax on their British colleagues. The specimen, which has yet to be examined close up by experts, is assumed to be made of wax or rubber. Full story. More. (Photo: Allistair Mitchell)
