Ok, so there's this guy I met at when I was with the family at a bookstore this weekend (since our power was out for a variety of reasons). We sorta exchanged "cards" since he was an interesting person to talk with...then I found out he was a TAURUS....and 29 years old! Woah. Not sure I really wanna pursue this now, but I wouldn't mind having a new friend, as I miss conversing. Keep in mind too, that I have sworn off Taureans, as they've burned me bad. He said he'd e-mail me, and he did two days later, but I'd like your opinions on whether this sounds all too weird... Let me know what you think, ASAP! Here's the e-mail below (minus all the idenifying info, of course):*********** Subj: Hi ;-) from the incredibly irresistably sexy guy from the bookstore Date: 4/18/2004 7:16:32 PM Eastern Daylight Time From: J----- E------ <j_______@yahoo.com> To: k_____@aol.com Hi Katty, What's up? Not much here. So did you finally pay your parent's electric bill? Or are you and your family going to live like the Amish? Let's get together for a cup of something delicious and some interesting conversation. Give me a call tonight or tomorrow. My number is ___-___-____. I'm a pretty busy person, and I can't guarantee that I'll be available, but give a try. And please call before 11 PM because that's when my mom makes me go to sleep. Is he really living at home with Mom, at 29? 'Cause that is a BIG red flag to me.Otherwise, I see nothing wrong or scary about a cup of coffee in a public place. Then you'll know what your heart and mind tell you. But...a 29 year old man probably is not looking for a 'friend.' Just being realistic. I know you are young and in college, but I can't recall your age. Good luck. IP: Logged |

Maybe he was just being funny when he said "that's when my mom makes me go to sleep"? I say silly things like that sometimes, like when me and my sweetie get home from a movie or something, as we pull up outside my house, I'll say "You can come in for a while. My parent's aren't home, you know" (then I *wink* at him)Or does he actually still live with his mom? Actually, maybe she doesn't want to live alone, and he's being a dutiful son? Otherwise, he sounds like fun guy. Taurus's come in many shapes and sizes. Don't avoid him just because you've had bad experiences with Taurus. Look at Pixlepixie...she had to overcome her bad experience with Aries when she met her husband IP: Logged |

"I can't guarantee that I'm available but give a try"........ ???????????What is THAT all about? I say, if he's not available, there are plenty of guys who are! (Next!) And the whole thing about him being incredibly sexy, blah blah blah. That's the most childish line I ever heard of. He's 29 already and should have thought of something a little more original. It may seem cute/like a joke now, but just wait till he feels even more comfortable with you and starts acting like you need to wait on him hand and foot. I say, NO WAY. I may be harsh but this guy sounds like he's wrong, wrong, wrong. IP: Logged |

I agree VAA, he is definitely cracking jokes. Are you in college? I thought you were younger still. Despite his sign, I would be wary abuot a significantly older guy being so forward with a much younger girl. If I'm wrong about your age, I apologize! IP: Logged |

Nope, oxy, you're not wrong about my age. I'm a freshman in college and I'm 18.5 years old. I think I'm gonna be a lot more wary. Thanks, quicksilver, too, for the heads up. I have gotten a little more concerned as I've thought on it more. ------------------ -K "Most people love with restraint As if they were someday to hate We hated gently, carefully As if we were someday to love"-Venus Trines at Midnight IP: Logged |

He sounds pretty full of himself. He also probably wants more than just "friendship". I wouldnt swear off all taurus's because of a bad experience, since jerks come in all signs good luck IP: Logged |

No Prob!!!! I make it my business to give heads ups on Taurus guys b/c they can be so damn arrogant. They joke around a lot but somehow I've noticed that it always ends up (ok, usually ends up) being at someone else's expense OR ends up making you feel vaguely uncomfortable. Don't be afraid to tell him to "back off" b/c he certainly won't ask your permission to move in or stalk you, whichever the case may be. And trust me, it may seem he is standoffish now but that's because he's banking on you eating up that whole "incredibly sexy guy charm thing". Once he sees you're not that dumb, he be full steam ahead, regardless of how you feel or how many times you tell him !!! Like I said, maybe I'm harsh but I'm willing to bet that I'm not wrong. Let me know how it goes p.s.- I dated a Taurus for yrs. so I know the dealio! IP: Logged |
