I am not allowed to shave my legs due to being on blood thinners (it's a long story), so I am constantly on the lookout for anything besides shaving that will do the trick. As for veet, I bought it today out of curiosity. It is new and there are cheesey commercials for it. however, it actually works! I like the little squeegee thing ("bladeless razor") it comes with. Don't get me wrong, it still smells very bad, but it worked. The directions said to leave on for 3 minutes, but no more than 8 mins. I had to leave it on for 6 minutes and then the hair came right off with the squeegee and then I took a shower to rinse the rest of it off.

Thanks for the feedback! I was wondering how they were. Not available yet, for us, as far as I know.

It is stinky smelly stuff that burns if you use it on your face.
In one book I read it said to try and use sandpaper to gently rub the hair off, I used the recommended one I think it was past the 200 grade (the one used last for finishing). It worked great until the next day I found that I used it tooooo much, ouch.
It is amazing what we will do to get rid of body hair.
I have made wax before and it worked wonders, I never wrote the recipe down and when I went back to the website it wasn't there (the website that is).
Now on the veet tube it does say "May not be appropiate for facial use", I had better add that ;-)

I dont think you are supposed to use it on your face. I just used it on my legs and armpits. No burning here, which is great because I have very sensitive skin.

Thanks for the information. Does it stop stinking once you wash it off or is it one of those lingering experiences?

Has anyone tried Nads? I don't know if it is in the U.S. yet but I saw the commercials and I was wondering. It looked great.

hey silverbells, yes the smell goes away once it is washed off. I forgot to mention that I have tried nads before. I got it at walgreens. anyway, nads is VERY sticky and gooey and messy and hurts ALOT (an understatement!)

Hasn't this sort of thing been out for a long time? I remember trying a brand called Nair about 10 years ago.

I'm just hairy now. (Unless I plan on dressing up, in which case I shave my legs. )

hehe, a hair removal thread!
I usually wax.. or rather, sugar. But I can't do it myself... too painful!!!
What I was wondering was this. I usually make my own sugaring at home, but I need to use linen strips on it for the actual hair remoal. I know that there's a recipe out there for sugaring that you can use without the strips and by itself. Would any of you happen to know what that recipe might be?

Oh, and if anyone would like the recipe for sugaring, just ask

This is so funny but thanks for the info.

I have yet to find a hair removal that works.

I use wax on my eyebrows and chin (doing the laser for permanent chin hair removal. Wax for the eyebrows works for me).

But my legs!!! Me and that razoer every coule of days. I've tried every depiltory that is in the store...nothin' as of yet has worked. I will keep my eyes out for this one

Oh my God man. That nads commercial said that it didn't hurt a bit. It was represented as revolutionary stuff. Fakers!

I've tried tons of different hair remover brands. Nair did not work at all on my thick dark hair. Sally hansen took off a few random hairs. I was shocked that this new veet stuff actually works. It must be industrial strength, lol.

Ooo, I love it when someone has tried the new stuff ! I might give that veet a go since I'm a razor girl, after two days - stubble

Also may I put in a word about the new 100% Garnier colourant ? It has washed out of my hair almost 100% after a month ! How crap ! Am writing to complain since it weren't cheap.

Veet didn't work for me at all *blinks*. Being Spainish, I have really thick black leg hair *sighs* and it left very weird looking stubble, even after I non-shaved over the area a few times. I even left it on for 4.5 minutes instead of 3. I dunno, different strokes for different folks I guess. However, it did take a really shorter time than shaving.

But I'll stick with shaving. Sure, I get razor burn once in awhile, but I usually don't nick myself.

Just an FYI~
I work in the beauty industry ( gee, who didn't know that by now) And you can leave most of them on up to ten minutes. Usually eight minutes. Slather them on, do not rub them in, but keep a nice thick coating on the area. Wait.... then test a small area with a warm washcloth ( or the sponge provided) if the hair doesn't comeoff easily, wait another minute, try again.. repeat, for up to ten minutes (or what the back of the bottle says) and then gently... NO RUBBING, sponge the hair and cream off. The hair should come off super easily.
You usually, even with fine hair, need to use it longer than five minutes.
It works because it is a highly alkaline substance.... the acid mantle of your skin protects (buffers) your skin, but 'burns' and weakens the hair. Just below the surface .... But not enough that it will last a LONG time.. a bonus though, is that the hairs don't grow back blunt and stubbly like razored hairs do. Softer and smoother regrowth.

Thanks for the info pixel I usually leave the stuff on for the maximum amount of time that the bottle says, and that does the trick, even on my dark italian stubbles

Tahariel~
I'm sure nothing I could do would make you more beautiful than you already are...
But I can show you how to enhance, I can councel you on what textures, products and innovations would work for you, and I can take away any offending hair while I am at it. I can apply cosmetic massage for relaxation, put on the right makeup to make you feel your best, and I can be a kind shoulder and sympathetic talker to inspire. I like what I do for money. Beauty is beyond skin deep, but it also feels good to work on the outer package!!!

But I don't do windows.

As evidenced by the thirty six viruses that latched on to my computer, I REALLY DON'T do Windows!!!!

But if you are ever in need of any waxing services, you just let me know.
