GRRRRR...

I'm having one of those days that makes me wonder WHAT I was thinking of when I thought I could be a good mom.

Today I just find my son a ROYAL pain in the behind. To begin with, he's a saggie with an aqua rising AND Uranus RIGHT ON the Asc. So he's very uranian. Meaning he likes to take things apart, look into them and then leaves everything lying around. And taking things apart does not entail putting them back together again, of course not, it's impossible after it is all BROKEN apart. At school they are starting to write with fountain pens. I, for one, think this is a VERY bad idea.

So here's him: sitting at his desk, which he has managed in the last week to absobloodylutely COVER with ink, paint, pencil, glue and godknowswhatelse. He is doing his language homework. This entails COPYING a text passage from a piece of paper into his school book. There are maybe 10 little sentences. According to my time schedule, this should take about 10-15 minutes, but not longer than 20.

After ten minutes of hearing him hum and sing to himself I go into his room. There he is sitting at his desk, two lines (making up about one HALF of a sentence) written, every second word WRONG. So here's me: ok. lets take a look at this work. Look, there's 4 mistakes in what you've written. What is wrong with this word. So he looks at the word, then at me, then at the floor then says, theres nothing wrong with it. But of course there is! So he starts guessing what's wrong with it. I'm like DO NOT GUESS...it is written on that paper in front of your eyes! Oh, yeah, he forgot. Oh, so he see's what is wrong. He goes to fix it with those fountain pen eraser pens, which I just bought about 6 days ago. He takes off the lid of one, I happen to be standing right next to him. He takes it off with such force that he bashes me in the mouth. SO I'm really trying to hold my temper now. And what happens? The pen has no more tip, he took it off. So we take out the spare eraser pen, he pops off the cap and just missed smacking me again, I'm like, could you just take it off without all that power behind it?? This pen nib looks like a rat chewed on it, but I'm not gonna get into that. So I'm like, please do the rest of the homework just like this. Look at the word, write the word, and then check the word.

So I go out of his room again, and go back 10 minutes later. I almost fall over in shock...he is LITERALLY COVERED in INK!! Him and his desk and the CARPET!!! So I'm not gonna scream and I ask, what happened??? And he said, my fountain pen wouldn't work. BUt it was working fine 10 minutes earlier (new ink cartridge). Yeah, but he wanted to change the blue ink to black.....ARGHGHGHGHGHG

So to make a long story pointless...it took him over 2.5 HOURS to finish this homework and I am exhausted. I have absolutely NO talent for teaching kids...and no patience either.

Anyways, so he went to the store to by a mr. freeze and I said, you can grab me an ice cream too. (It's really hot here today). So I'm all excited to dig into an ice cream, he comes back, well, he didn't find "orange" ice cream, they only had "mandarine"...I said well, what's a mandarine, well an orange. So I said, ok, what did you get instead. Nothing, of course, but he bought all his buddies really expensive ice cream on a stick (Magnums if anyone knows what those are). So for about US$ 15, I invited the whole bloody neighbourhood for an ice cream.

Grrr...it just seems like a little thing today when I write it, but it's the culmunation of WEEKS and MONTHS of getting notes from his teacher how bad his work is at school. And of course, nothing is ever his fault (saggies!!!)...after practicing a dictation for 2 weeks with him, and redoing and redoing Every wrong word, we had the last two days before the test perfect writing. Then he writes the test and brings home 11 mistakes (a failing test). And so I say, how come you made so many mistakes? "It's not my fault the teacher is too fast (we cleared up at the last interview that she waits for every kid to finish writing before she moves on), the girl beside me erases too much and too hard!!!!!!! grrrrrr....

So I better stop now lol...y'all are gonna think I'm such a nasty mean controlling perfectionist mommy...I'm not though, and this is why I can't understand what's going on here...

Anyways, thanks for the chance to rant.

I don't have children, so I have no valuable advice, but I wish you

Do I recall that you are one of those of us iwth a Cappy Moon? If so...you have the capacity to be a very wise mom.

Oh my.....

I am laughing with you... in fact... I superimposed my son's face over your son's, and was like~
"She has my child!!"
Especially the "Oh yeah" thing.

He's a Sag too, Aries rising, Scorpio moon, not a stitch of air in his chart.
And I have a Capricorn moon.
He is exactly the same as your son.........
Or at least a nine year old version.
I UNDERSTAND!!! and don't worry, sometimes I feel I have reached the negativity quota for one day...... and then it keeps going.... But I also know, much as you are frustrated, that you will look at him when he is sleeping, and give him a private smile full of calm and love. Tomorrow, when the new day comes, you will make an effort to be patient again, and then by the end of the day, it will happen again. But then, that evening, when you tuck him in, he'll say "I love you mom." and it will all be okay again.

I know, I know.

It does get better Nackie, I promise!! I survived a Scorp and a Cancer. This Aqua danced to the loonie tunes and thought sanity was a utopian dream.

*a considerably calmed down Nackie*

Thanks you guys for all the comforting words! A new day, a new mood -- well, he's not home from school yet, maybe I should not get too excited (I'm a gemini, too! lol...patience, anyone??)

My son has the cappy moon, Trillian, and now you know why!! With me as a mom...lol I'm actually a patient-prodding taurus moon, but I find that does NOT come out in my parenting, we both have WAY too much fire in our charts for that.

Pixie, you are absolutely right. Although, I went in his room last night, full of shame to kiss and cuddle him and tell him I love him, but he wasn't there (10 pm)--he was out on the terrace BLOWING BUBBLES!!! I didn't know whether to laugh or scream so I quietly backed away, went to my husband and said "I'm finished for today, your turn!" This morning though, he came into my room and gave me a kiss goodbye (I have the day off, so hubby got him ready and I got to sleep in *bliiiiiissssss*) and said, love you! The worst part about it is, as a typical sag, when he's bad (well not *bad*, but in my eyes not listening) he has this angelic GRIN on his face and when he gets yelled at he looks like a drowned daschund..."whaaat?" Makes it hard to keep a straight face, especially as he can't.

Saggies, can't live with them, can't live without 'em!

BTW, Pixie, does your son also have uranus on Asc? Nicky has Jupiter conj Neptune in cappy 12th, with neptune also conj. uranus, meaning he also has neptune on the asc as well as uranus...talk about a dreamer! *rolls eyes* lol Actually, his chart is by far full of earth (all that cappy influence...*geez, thanks cappy hubby* lol) 4 planets in cappy in the 11th/12th.

Sorry to get too astrological here, I know theres another forum for that...I'll take it there!

Love to you ladies, thanks for the compassion! (still chuckling at the "I thought sanity was an utopian dream"--I mean, isn't it?? hehe)

Nacky that's funny that your boys name is Nicky because my girl's name is Nicky too Actually, Nicole but she formally switched to Nicky (in school) in grade 5 or so. But she has to be different and spell it Nikki.

How old is your boy? He can't be that old, huh? Sounds like...maybe 8 or 9? I know kids can seem like such dunces sometimes, but fortunately they get smarter. (thank GAWD), and even impressively so sometimes. My kid went through a phase there where NOBODY could stand her, family and freinds. She's a Taurus with Scorp rising, and a loaded 2nd house, all Capricorn planets, including her moon. She's awesome around new people and her freinds, but eventually she'll disagree with you about *something*. She tends to drift from best friend to best friend. Right now her best friend is a *wince* boy.
She's all about values. Get's uptight when you pressure her, like as in peer pressure. Her friends will say something like "You're such a goodie two-shoes...such a mama's girl" And she'd be like ''(bleep) you!" (Scorp rising...she can be harsh when ticked off) I do what I want because *I* want to, not please anyone else, so shove it up your (bleep)!" ..and it's absolutely true. She answers to herself, and that's about it. And they go. "ok, ok.. sorry. So, does that mean you're not gonna let us smoke your cousin's cigarettes then? (or whatever) Ok..." and so on, and they eithor have a bigger fight and stop being friends, or they learn not to not even try to talk her into things she doesn't want to do. She just ended things with her best friend who A) Just moved back to Newfoundland and B)Was starting to get into drugs. She came here for 8 days during her spring break last month, and they had it out about that. They are no longer friends as a result.
But anyway, I've met other people with heavy 2nd house energy as well, and they all tend to have alot of falling's out about basic principles of life, or values. Hardworking and reliably honest, though..for sure. She works for her dad all the time. She even knows how to operate a bobcat. She's known how to drive a standard car since she was 10 or so. She turned 14 on Thursday, and her dad has already taken her for her learner's permit. She's a tomboyish girl. All that earth. What can a girl do?

Sorry, didn't mean to ramble about my kiddo. but it's been fun

Really Juni? That's funny. There are no other Nicky's or Nikki's in her school, or that we know of at all. Especially not spelt with 2 'k's.... That's cool.

Great minds....

That's really funny! Mine is actually Dominick, but I call him Nicky. He thinks that anyone who calls him "Nicky" speaks English, because only my (Canadian) family calls him that. My hubby's family (here in Germany) only call him Dominick.

I really love hearing about your guys stories with your kids, too...makes me feel a little more normal and almost half way sane

Here's a picture of my son:

I don't have children, but my older brother is a Sag, and your story sounds just like the stories my mother tells about my brother.

Nackie!
I hear you, I hear you.
My son has Uranus conj. Neptune too, in his tenth.(Cappy) But aside from Mars in his fifth, his chart is top heavy (mostly Scorpio in seventh). Then 8th, 10th and 11th. He has Aries rising (degree-29.. he was almost Taurus rising.. but I happened to be there when he was born, so I know exactly.... ) He has five water, Four fire, three Earth +MC, and NO air.)
It balances though, My daughter is Air heavy.

Update:

Yesterday's language homework: Write a 6 sentence story about an elefant. I thought, oh god, here we go again. After a 10 minute thinking marathon, and 10 minutes of writing, he was finished and only made a very few mistakes and wrote nicely.

I'm sorry, I just don't get this child. Printing was incredibly hard for him, cursive writing a piece of cake. He couldn't add two and two together to get four for the life of him, he's doing multiplication/division equations faster than I can (I somehow don't have enough fingers....lol) Like 4x8+10/2=37 in his head seemingly without thinking (he's in grade 2!!), whereas I go, hmm what was 4x8 again? huh? lol

The easy stuff is hard, and the hard stuff easy...is this the uranian influence?

Absolutely! Uranus lends itself to abstract thinking, but the very basics (1+1=2) are too simple and inconsequential to bother with. Think of the absent minded professer, working out brilliant and complex hypothesis, but unable to find his glasses, which are sitting on top of his head.

Thanks, Lioneye, that makes more sense! I DO try to figure him out...but as a venusian type person, it is a long, hard battle to figure out an uranian lol
