After the events with the nephew yesterday, another emotional day was in store for me.

This a.m. I was handed a literally minutes old preemie llama. The dear thing couldn`t even lift her head. Thats a lot of trust to put in someone but I`m giving it my all.

Pedialyte to get her electrolytes up and a calfs colostrum to give her antibodies required for survival. A very difficult job I must say as she barely can swollow and she`s too weak and undeveloped to tube feed. She may have angular limb deformity but only time will tell. Her survival expectations are about 50-50.

Currently she`s gaining strength and trying with all her little might to stand . It will be a long 72 hours and baby can use all your lite and love to strenghten her.

I promised mys-elf to not get attached but she`s worked her way straight to my weary heart.

Oh, Juniperb.. how awesome a task and responsibility. If the llama could live on love and hope, then surely, she will.
Give it your all. But not your all.

Good luck to this baby.

If anyone can help her, it's you.

I say this knowing that the purpose of her life may be for a mere glimpse at this world.

I do believe animals have souls. I do believe they come back to us now and then. I do believe their lives have higher purpose, and like ours, sometimes it's to peek in for a little while.

I do believe that love heals. I am sending her loads, and loads to you, too, Juni.

How did she come to be in your arms?

Trillian, after my loss of Angelita last year, I`ve had a crash course in preemiie/sick babies Fostering the little ones is so rewarding and sad at the same time. I`m a known soft touch in these parts.

Link for the loving lites who wern`t here when our sick baby was born.

Special, I bring on most of my own headachs/heartaches with the critters. We foster for many domestic and wild ones needing homes and to nurse many to health.

Neph, It truely is an in and out thing. I spend as much time in the barn as the house. I`ve learned to bottle feed and type in one organized sitting.

She is stronger tonight and looks perkier

Ahh.. maybe so dear Juni I admire your Labour of Love. Mine is in development still! However collectively, everyone I've encountered in the last two months has helped me realise that I have a real urge to help - as work always thought it'd be a future thing I did aswell as work.

I'd love to have an animal sanctury, or set up something to help souls in need - maybe call it that? Have a general nuturing service of some sort!

It'll come to me

I'm glad she looks perkier - I was thinking of you as I watched the rain last night

Trillian, I`ll skip the llama talk and tell it in two legged terms: beautiful! Her head is up and licking her lips just like we do when we`re hungry

She needs to gain one lb. a day and we`re well on our way.

I forgot to add the other reason to your question re aquiring her, I have a llamamama Dharma and can milk her hourly for fresh milk because she has enough for a whole herd .

Special, it will come to you. It may feel slow in maturing but your labor of love is within your and loving capabilities!!

Thank you Juni, I believe you're right looking for signs in everything!

Which furbaby was the one with a black face, white spot on her head and cute half black & white tail and black spotted hooves?? It was a while back but I had a mental picture! Please say you have a real one?

Are you calling the new baby 'Little Angel'?? If not what a darling name Trillian

Hey Juni!

The very best wishes to you and the little one. What you are doing is such a beautiful thing.
I just came accross this thread this morning and until I read it I was feeling sorry for myself (in that why can't I buy those shoes I saw...kind of feeling sorry) and this put my whole life in persecptive....

Thanks for sharing moment with us. It is just wonderful and I am sure she will be fine!

Love,

The news gets better and better, Juni.

Special, "Little Angel" is what Juni said she was calling the wee one, till she came up with a name.

Juni, the reason I early spoke of the critters coming back to us, was because I wondered if this might be Angelita, back to see you again. Then, when you said you call her "Little Angel," I had the same thought again.

Grow strong, Little Angel. I'm sure the mama llama milk from Dharma and the Love from Juniperberry will help you on your way.

Such a wonderful thing you do, Juni!

Seventy Two hours old and looking great

She can clumsly get to her feet and stagger around to experience the strange world around her. She is off her pasterns, as alert as a normal birth, hungry and the most adorable little angel.

She weighs 18 lbs now (compared to 30 normal). I have her wrapped in a preemie cria coat & she`s snug as a bug in our very cold stormy weather.

She`s a little paint, three colors: one side 3/4 brown, one 3/4 black with one white ear, white chest with a circle of brown and a white spot on her black face So beautiful

I know it`s a long road ahead of us but I am encouraged by her spirit.

Trillian, I am thinking the same thing There are so many personality traits recognizable. She watchs me so closely it`s rather eerie and tender. I get the sense of 'we will get it right this time.

I am so in

Nephthys ~ that's so cool.. Do you have a plan as to how to get started yet? Mine is in the early stages of manifestation in my brain!

Thanks for the explaination Trillian, however, may use "Little Angel" myself in the future, it's a gorgeous name

Juni ~ thanks for you're quiet confidence, so nice to hear Nephthys shares the same dream. Just read the post I wrote about Appolonia - and realised it sounded like I'd visualised her, silly me. Sorry, what I meant was that when you'd described her before I'd kept a mental picture, and wondered if you had a real one (picture)! Sorry - me being unclear.. I can be magic but just wasn't that time!

The new furbaby sounds beautiful, I'm soo happy for your love

Aw thanks Special. With the newest baby, I have an even dozen

They take hours of grooming & trimming (hooves & wool) and affection. Just when I`m done, they go roll in the ol dusthole and get hay & leaves back on them again

Tonight I tucked the little Angel in and she squirmed and squirmed saying no to the coat on her. Her strength is improving rapidly.

Juni, such good news that Little Angel is growing stronger, I'm so happy. And yes, I think it is she, returned, to 'get it right this time,' as you said.

You are her Mommy!

Where does she sleep?
