So, what's everyone been up to?

I've been off for a while, and I feel like I'm outta touch.

As for me, I just got back from mine and Meg's Fairfax/Stafford/Annapolis trip.
It was fun, if whirl-windish, and my cousin took us - including Jase, he flew in for the long weekend - up to watch DC's fireworks from the Pentagon's parade field (he's a network contractor there, so he acted as our "authorized escort").
Much of the place looks like a series of 1950's era highschool hallways.

Everyone was enthralled w/ Meg.
She smiled and gooed at all she met, even winning the hearts of partygoers at a ritzy shindig in Clifton.

Now I'm going to pull out some photos from my "proud mama trip portfolio":

Meg After a Bath

Meg and My Grandmother.
Yes, that's her nightshirt.
Yes, those are pearls.
Yes, she's a Leo.

Not the most flattering pic of Meg, but it's kinda funny

Meg and my Cousin Ben.
Ladies - He's 27, an Aries, and Single
Gah, he'd probably kill me for putting that up.

Wonderful to see you posting again! I missed your face ( and words, I guess!)
Wow, can I ever see a difference in that little munchkin since the last time!!! Her gorgeous eyes, wow.
Good job. Glad to see you back, and I hope you had a fantabulous time! Thanks for sharing.
Oh, and I am great, thank you!

proxieme that has got to be one of the most good-looking babies I have ever seen. And I am not one of those goo-goo, cutchy-coo, every baby is beautiful types.

Your cousin isn't half bad either.

My, she's grown! And they do grow so fast. Treasure every moment because somehow, once you become a Mommy, time speeds up.

BTW...she's so pretty. Those eyes!

Hey prox...missed you 'round here. Meg is beautiful, as is your Grandmother. Love the pearls. Cute cuz, too.

I'm well...just recently returned from a visit with my birthparents/family in Va. Beach. It was mostly ok...I do love being around the beautiful ocean.

Yin & Randall - Thankya

pixelp - Thankya, too
Her eyes'll probably change a bit more yet, but so far they just seem to be getting lighter and lighter.
Watch out, or I'll post a pic of my other male cousin on that side. He's 23, 6'4'', and played football for NC State.
Oh, re: Meg's legs: Yeah, even the nurses at the hospital commented on the length of her legs. I didn't see anything spectacular, but then babies all look torso-heavy to me.
And I'm glad to hear that you're great

TINK - Thank you I tend to think so, too. (And I was never a baby person...in fact, when Meg was born, I said (with love), "Awww, she looks like a little old man!"

Twin Lady - I know, I can see that now.
Each week I'm amazed at how much she's grown since the last.

Juniperb - And all that w/o even trying
I'm glad that it's made you smile.

lalalinda - That's what I think, too - at least initially.
Her dad, though a dark brunette, has striking red highlights in his beard when he grows it out...I'm pulling for her hair to end up the color shown within it.

Nackie - Thank you. Oh! And I'm sorry that I didn't get back to you re: the Penaten. One of my neighbors had nearly a whole container left over from when she was over there. She gave the remainder to me, and I forgot to answer.

trillian - Thank you, and thank you for missing me (that shout out goes out to pixelp, too).

I can imagine that a mostly OK visit with birthparents is what should be aimed for.
At least there's the "mostly" in there, no?
VA Beach can be quite nice, though.
Before my parents divorced, we'd get a room a few floors up facing the ocean in a hotel at the less frequented end of the beach and wake up early to watch the dolphins jumping as the sun rose. Once when I was swimming, a dolphin jumped up and flipped not ten feet behind me (I didn't see it - only heard-, but my sister, eyes wide, did).
Those're good memories for me.
I'm glad that you enjoyed the place, too.
