Well.... put it this way.....
I found out the cravings last about an hour after I had my last cigarette.
I am a fool. But I am an honest fool, I suppose I could lie, as there is no way to verify this..... but I don't do that. I am proud of you though. I wil try again in a few weeks, now that I can.
and
Let's put it this way as well... I haven't been feeling great lately. I had 'an issue' at work tonight. But it is all figured out. I stil have a job... ( Which is funny, considering what I called my boss):O
He did a 'rooster-sucker' thing, so I told him he was a 'rooster-sucker' isn't that bad? But hey, worked there for three years, and I haven't ever encountered anything like that.. this was sooooooooooo impossibly stupid and unfair, and well.... my potty-mouth overcame any nuances of treating other's as I wish to be treated....
Oops. He did say he'd been called worse, when the smoke died down. Tomorrow this will be funny. Won't it? (once my tears have dried up)

*********HUGS********
Thank you.. I Accept your hug and raise you a pinch.
Hey.. You need a sense of humour if you actually say that out loud to someone with power over you, and you are STILL employed.
Wild.
Even if he did deserve it.. I should've waited and said it to my friends afterwards.. oh well, live and learn.

ooooh God. I've gotta quit smoking sooo bad. Soon......soon. So, the cravings only last about an hour after your last cig.? Gotta give it another go.

Hey, I know how it is to tell a rooster sucking boss off too. At least you still have your job!

And... more (((HUGS))) to you, my love.

Hang in there Pix *jumps into the hugs* It's a strange thing. I spent a long weekend with family and over three days, I didn't want to smoke at all. As soon as I'm back in my routine, I do!

I don't smoke that much anyway but would love to be able to do without the habit.

Best of luck to all trying!

Hey Pix would you email me please? chiligirlthefirst@yahoo.co.uk

That was a long stretch though! You should be proud of yourself for trying. I know in my heart I wasn't ready to quit, I haven't smoked lately, but I can't imagine not ever smoking again. What is a rooster sucker? Oh, just got it. Did you actually say the "C" word? Ouch!

Philbird I love your little interjections! Congrats to you for trying too, hope it lasts more than my meagre 3 weeks once a long long time ago!

I wanna quit too! I've been on and off for about 10 years...(has it really been that long! Geesh! I never counted 'til now!) But, unfortunately I've been "on" for about two years... at least! *sigh* I don't smoke much at home... it's work that gets me! I have found that water with lots of ice and lots of lemons helps to quell the cravings, though. I usually do alright (when I try) until I go out! Cigs go too well with beers! Maybe I'll try the straw thing next time...

I have a book by Christiane Northrup called, "Women's Bodies, Women's Wisdom," and in it she has this plan for quitting. Perhaps I should revisit it. The book is fabulous. Get it if you can... lots of amazing information inside. (The smoking thing works for men, too!)

The smoking thing is a few pages long, but as soon as I get time I'll see if there's a link anywhere online and if not, I'll type it up for everyone.

Best of luck to all the quitters!

Carissa, best of luck to you when you decide to quit My work buddies insist on a book by Alan Carr to stop smoking, one is doing really well with that method and not looked back.

Pixie, how are you felling today? I wanted to ask how the singing was going tied into that - wondered if there was a noted improvement in your voice with giving up, etc.

I feel so heavy today, I have cut right down, like 2 a day now, but my appetite has increased, just scoffed a huge choc and waddling everywhere.

Nice

Two a day? Fabulous!
Nup.. I am smoking.
As far as improvement of my voice- That was a good reason, one that I will put on the list as I endeaver to quit again a few weeks from now.
The reasons are small whispers, and when I talk to my husband who has never been addicted to anything in his life, and adding to that, doesn't have much compassion, it is a scream....... But I digress.
I just spoke to my mum on the phone.. she says as long as it is on my mind, I will get there.. she isn't worried about that. I said "thanks for the understanding and encouragement."
My voice is still a good one. It hasn't reached my vocal chords, and I can hold a note for a long time... but I was excited to think of it... because, back when I was 13, my vocal coach wanted for me to persue 'opera'. So I suppose my range was a good one. Of course, I started smoking shortly after.........
Thanks for the chat and progress report.
Sorry I bi-atched about ma man. *grumble grumble. Love is a many-facetted thing.

"Oh Sol lo COUGH, COUGH Me O"
I have joined you Pix, but now I know it won't be so bad the next time I try.
Sheaa, two a day? WOW! I can't afford to keep smoking though, so I'm sure this will be a short relapse.
Pix, it was nice to have a buddy to try to quit with!

I myself was really bad today... smoked about twice as much as usual. (Rough night last night.) But I was a lot more CONSCIOUS of my smoking today, so that's a start. But now I have a sore throat. Ugh!

Hey Pix,
I'm trying again, hubby is still going strong. He just couldn't bear the fact that "Dirt Cheap Cigs" won't deliver to AZ. anymore. They closed to loop hole. Also the prices went up about $5.00 a carton across the border. More straws!

Good for you!!! I know you can do it.
I know I can too.... in a while. I'll be nic-fitting in a few weeks, when you are free and clear of the symptoms. *sigh* Soon....

By the way... I am in Canada..... about $8.00 a pack, and that is at a cheap place!!! The average is more. how insan is that???? Granted, it is Canadian funds.. but I work eat, live, smoke in Canadian funds.. the market means nothing to me in terms of 'real-life'.

my 2 cents.
I quit 10 years ago, breathing exercises helped a lot. If you think about it, when you smoke you inhale deeply. So go ahead and take deep breaths and remember the cravings will go away in 5-10 minutes. Unfortunately they do return..

GOOD LUCK!
