An Impassioned Society

I dream of an emotion that fills the hearts of all.
I wonder what, is next to fall.
I question reality and try to remain objective.
But in the end, it’s all just dead perspective.
I wondered and cried,
Floundered, and almost died.

Abstraction… I find myself abstracted in the urbanscape.
The clouds float by on a beautiful blue sky.
The buildings tower far above.
Round in circles I look around.
And then I look down.
Level with the public.
The people round me,
homeless and rich,
Spange and b*tch.
A man in a gray suit, speaks to a box.
The woman walks into a store.
It snowed the night before.
I look up again,
To see the peace amidst the artificial landscape.
I wonder why, I can not fly,
To see the world from far above.

I have statement to make. I think society has lost its focus. Weather it ever had a focus or not, I don’t know, But as we advance further and further down the technological road of the future, I sometimes stop to think, when does materialism stop and life begin? We have forgotten what life is really like. Some of us have gotten so rapped up in making sure that our 401k is coming along and that there’s enough money in the bank, that we forget who we are apart from our material identity. I have asked the philosophical question “who am you” to many of my peers, and a common response is “who am I?” and a laugh.

My intention in writing this Post is to provoke thought about your personal identity. “Who am you?” People of Linda Land, what makes you tick and what is your soul’s purpose for living, not just your body's?

“We are not physical beings having a spiritual experience, but spiritual beings having a physical experience.”

I am,
Randall III

Very well said, Randall!!

Who am I? I'm Danielle

What makes me tick? What's my souls purpouse for living?

Well, first and foremost, my kids... of course. Aside from them?

People. I love (most) people. I love to interact with people. I love to help people. I love to hug people. I love to play with other people. I love to giggle with people. I love to talk, and LISTEN to people.

My goal is to one day help people heal.

I would appreciate some comments as to how people feel on this... What do you think??? Please gather your most articulate words and put your feelings out there, what do you think about society and your place in it? Are you an emotional, involved, loving member of society and why? or are you an uncompassionate person who needs to reflect, or maybe just go about your ways? Please People this is something that means a lot to me and something that I think society needs desperately to address for fear of our current direction.

Please Put your thoughts out there!

I am a compilation of love, water, consciousness, solid matter, planetary aspects and memories, discussions & decisions.

I am an impassioned society within mys-Elf.

I am intense, and can flare in to defensive melodrama when my world is challenged. My Cancer Moon and Mars in Leo wouldn't have it any other way. Apparently my Uranus in Scorpio "adores research, inquiry, investigation".. it's true, I can never bore of philosophy & will investigate myself and why I love or dislike certain things forever! We all live in an intense world ~ the impassioned society ~ and how we choose to experience it will be a constant enthrallment. I believe we are constantly evolving ~ repercussions from one world situation to another. Wasn't it Darwin that believed we were all in the process of making a new species of us? *finding it*
OK here;

quote:
According to my view, varieties are species in the process of formation, or, as I have called them, incipient species..

I take it that Darwin referred to us as constantly being the embryonic species. Maybe I interpreted that differently to how he meant it, I wasn't the best in science class, but philosophy always intrigued me! To me it makes perfect sense. We are constantly learning from one another. I am ~ I want to. I drink in information everyday, but have strong beliefs in what I will or won't take on. This makes me who I am.

My beliefs took me to many levels when I was a little woman. I believed 'Empathy' shampoo would make your hair grow, spinach would make you really strong, dogs always chased cats, dogs were male and cats were female *snigger* , banana skins were really slippery, robbers went around in stripes with 'SWAG' bags everywhere, pirates always had a parrot on their shoulder, Ronald McDonald was real, cowboys films really got shot, and if you didn't know what you wanted to do when you were older you were a 'unfocused'. Not true!

So therefore, I believe in my own 'feeling' and intuition in any topic aswell as weighing up the fact. I believe in truth, love, fairies and angels and most of all mys-Elf

What I'm made of
If I tell them,

That I won't be,

What they want to be,

Maybe they'll open their eyes,

And finally see,

What I'm made of.

A few weeks ago, a guy that went to elementary school told me "I remember you never talked- you were like, anti-talk."

And the weirdest thing is, that I don't remember being that anti-social- but I figured out why that is. I was always too busy listening as a kid, rather than talking. I still am. I love watching, and listening, and just sitting on the sidelines while other people interact and put themselves forward. I've always seen the truth in thinking before speaking, and I think that's what I've been doing for most of my life.

I want to see change in the world. I want to see change in society. And I believe that we do have to "be the change that you want to see in the world". There's so much that can be learned by just watching the life that's going on around you.

So, in a nutshell, if this makes any sense, I guess what I've been trying to do in my past fifteen years of life is to 'think before speaking'.

ETA: Yay, my fifth-hundred post .

I guess, he didn't understand your social function, that's why he mistook you as being anti-social. I can certaily empathise with you on that one, I find myself like the observers perspective sometime. I live to people watch, but also, I like to play the leader. I guess it just depends on where I am and what mood I am...
People happen, don't they Everlong?

What makes me tick and what is my soul's purpose for living... interesting questions! Now I will attempt to answer, if for no one's sake but my own. (Feeling kind of selfish here... I tend to have an attitude of "Why would anyone care about me or what I have to say?" Emotionally damaging upbringing...) Anyway, on with it!

This reminds me of a poem by Langston Hughes: Theme for English B. Anyone read it? I love it.

What makes me tick? People, ideas, identities, interpersonal relationships, words, perceptions... studying these things never answers any questions for me but propels me to ask more and more fiercely... WHY! I really don't want answers, anyway, I only want new questions. It keeps me going. I am an eternal student of the universe!

What is my soul's purpose for living? To learn, learn, learn. I like to bring peace to others by helping them to recognize their questions, which frequently puts them face to face with... themselves! It is always surprising to me how so many people never look inside of themselves, how they feel like life is something that happens TO them. I feel like we are what happens to life and life is a product of our thoughts and words and affects more than just ourselves. The interconnectedness of people and things amazes me. My soul's purpose is comprehend this as fully as possible.

wow future-uncertain... that's awesome!
I dig the question, in fact that reminds me of a little essay I wrote:

Being Pure…

The wisdom that is contained within the Heart is ignored by the spirit, The Spirit loses the great insight of the Soul, and the Soul loses sight of the path. The path will set you free, to become.
The Question that is asked now: “Who am you?” Wondering astray, Not knowing about, Not understanding Why or even caring. Life’s Greatest reword is understanding the Question, Because Once you do understand the question, you can then Strive towards the meaning. The Other Side will greet you with Love, Understanding, and most importantly: Pure being.

I bet you can relate...
You're right, the question is the most important part of life, one must realize the question. Although, I must disagree with you in one aspect though: the Answer...
I think the answer presides in the way we live our lives. If we live well then we did well and we will be rewarded upon death with the question's full answer in its entirety.

When one doesn't understand there life, that's because life hasn't finished yet. What's to understand about an unfinished answer?

Very nice! I liked what you said about the answer at the end of life. This only makes it that much more important to know and understand the questions!
