The death toll is rising above 23,000
I've never seen anything like this in my life time.
A neighbour of mine was holidaying in Phuket 3 weeks ago. Im glad his back safe.

Im shocked at the amount of deaths, I really feel it hard.
Sending light and prayers to those who are suffering.

ohhh I was watching the news this morning. I cried and I am so sad for all of them.

It's strange because just on Friday I was talking with May on the phone and we were saying we were due for another big quake soon because the activity on the earthquake maps was picking up. We figured it would be California but obviously.. .we were off.

I like to watch you in your sleep
IŽd give a million if I knew your name
And all I need is to be with you In a state of dreams

Red Cross 1-800 HELP NOW www.unicef.org

Doctors Without Borders 1-888-392-0392

Americare 1 800 486 HELP

If there is anything you can do to help these unfortunate people, it would be such a wonderful thing. Even if you cannot spare money or time, I would really appreciate if you could just pray for them.

A Prayer in a Time of Disaster

Almighty and everlasting God, You are strength to those who suffer and comfort to those who grieve. Let the prayers of your children who are in trouble rise to you.

Hear our prayer.

We claim your promises of wholeness as we pray for those who who struggle or are suffering losses and long for your healing touch.

Hear our prayer.

Make the weak strong, the sick healthy, the broken whole, and confirm those who serve them as agents of your love.

Hear our prayer.

To everyone in distress, grant mercy, grant relief, grant refreshment.

Hear our prayer.

As we begin to rebuild, we commend our neighborhoods to your care.
Give us strength of purpose and concern for others, that we may create a community where your will may be done.

Hear our prayer.

God of compassion, you watch our ways,
And weave out of terrible happenings wonders of goodness and grace. Hear our prayer.

Surround those who have been shaken by tragedy with a sense of your present love,
And hold them in faith.
Though they are lost in grief, may they find you and be comforted;
Through your presence, they might find peace ...

Amen.

GALLE, Sri Lanka (Reuters) - Stricken Indian Ocean nations are worked swiftly to bury thousands of bodies as experts warn disease could kill as many people as the 60,000 already dead from the violent crush of Sunday's tsunami

U.S. scientists said on Tuesday the quake that set off the killer wall of water permanently moved tectonic plates beneath the Indian Ocean as much as 30 metres (98 feet), slightly shifting islands near Sumatra.

The toll is at 76,700.

But oh, no, Rainbow...it's only sad for those who are left behind, those who lost loved ones and must rebuild their homes and cities. All things are as they should be.

On this earth plane we may never understand why over 76,000 souls decided to check out at the same time, in such a devastating way...and why the souls of their loved ones stayed here to grieve. But I believe there is purpose in all things, and that our souls made many choices on another level.

For all souls are One. We are One, but we are not the same. We get to carry each other...

No soul/energy every truly dies...we will all be reunited again.

Peace, Rainbow.

Trillian....

I'm really aware of those things, but on the surface (here on the physical plane) it is sad...and as you say...for those who are left behind....

Not too many people can relate to the reality of "purposes" etc, when their physical eyes are only aware of what appears to be the here and now...*sigh*...

My "knowing" often gets blurred by physical appearances...since that is where my spirit is existing at the this time...

But deep down, I'm aware of other things going on...

Thanks for the reassurance, all the same...

LOve,
Rainbow

Lastest number.....The number of deaths from CNN sources in all affected countries now stands at 80,427

I know that you know, Rainbow. You have a gentle heart that easily absorbs hurt and pain for others...

I remember a writing of Shirley MacLaine's where she illustrated the power of mind over matter. If I recall correctly, a hotel where she was conducting a seminar was having plumbing problems. She asked her students to join her in a meditation that would send positive power to those fixing the problem, to expedite the process so she wouldn't have to cancel the rest of the seminar. Their meditation was so powerful, it caused a water main break!

So perhaps we Knowflakes can join together in a meditation that will send positive, healing light to those in South Asia. Perhaps a time on Sunday? I'm in the eastern U.S., so if we perhaps choose something like 3 or 4 p.m. Eastern, our friends on the west coast won't have to rise too early, and our friends in Europe won't have to stay up too late. Of course, we have people all over the world here at LL, so no time will be perfect. But if the idea appeals, maybe we could come up with something that works for us.

And if we do have a time that seems reasonably compatible, we can then post on all the forums here, inviting people to join us...

Trillian (((hugs))) That is a wonderful idea. How beautiful. I truly believe that every bit helps and where there are many, there is an even stronger Love & healing power. It really does work. I think you should start a thread for your beautiful idea. I'm all for it.

I you.

It is just too terrible for words!
This whole week the top story of the news bulletin is just on this Tsunami and the effects!

It is the strongest earthquake in 40 years-9.0 on the richter scale but the worse thing it happened the day after Christmas when everyone is resting from Christmas day!

Today I got an email from a friend showing photos of the massive waves hitting the shores, the markets areas etc. It is horrific!

I am abit surprised that Somalia and Kenya were also affected but it just shows one cannot underestimate the power of water!
Let there be light!

I have such wonderful friends here in LindaLand.

I'll begin a thread in the busiest forums here in LL. Over the next couple of days, we can try to keep them towards the top for folks peeking in over the holiday.

Let's say Sunday at 3 p.m. Eastern, which as Sheaa said is 8 p.m. GMT.

Thank you, wonderful peeps.

This is so true trillian ...

My heart is in pieces for those that survived to this catastrophe and still have have to live without their loved ones...

Due to my faith I can "understand" this people's monstrous loss, but even so, to see all those children in such deep suffering is terrible...
