I was reading the paper today and I was reading an article(not a review) on a new movie called Racing Stripes, just been released in the United States.

In it's first week of opening, it has apparently taken in R 125 000 (don't ask what that is in $).
But the most amazing thing about the movie, it was shot in my province here in South Africa. So I want to know,if any of you have seen it yet, what the scenery is like in
the movie?
Is it magnificent? beautiful, awe- inspiring?

The movie is only opening here in SA in March.
I hope it is a good movie.
Nice to think that a movie that is doing well in USA was shot right in my backyard.

Cool having a movie filmed in your area! We had one filmed in our county starring Tom Cruise, called Days of thunder. One view of "The Gadston Hotel" had the place I'm staying right now in the background! Just about a month ago, a film was shot in Bisbee, the next town over. I can only remember the movie starts with a D. The actor who played in that was one of those actors that kind of blend in with actors that have familiar faces, but you can't remember their name!

Did a search... Says it takes place in Navada, but we know it was filmed in Bisbee, AZ.

Stephen King's 'Desperation' Cast News

By Brad Brevet

Yet again another Stephen King novel is getting the made-for-TV treatment as Desperation is currently being filmed in Arizona.

StephenKing.com is reporting that Mick Garris, whose previous Stephen King projects include Riding the Bullet, The Stand, The Shining, Quicksilver Highway [Chattery Teeth], and Sleepwalkers, wrote the screenplay and is directing this production.

As far as the cast goes it looks like they didn't hold back in trying to get bigger names for this one as Hellboy is even taking a role as Ron Perlman will be playing Collie Entragian. The rest of the cast includes Tom Skerritt as Johnny Marinville, Steven Weber as Steve Ames, Matt Frewer as Ralph Carver, Annabeth Gish as Mary Jackson, Henry Thomas as Peter Jackson and Charles Durning as Tom Billingsley.

The site also makes sure to emphasize that this is being filmed as a feature film, not a mini-series, which should be promising.

The book it is based on is quite complex, and I am curious to see just how they are able to recreate the story of a place along Interstate 50 that some call the loneliest place on Earth. It's not a very nice place to live. It's an even worse place to die. It's known as Desperation, Nevada.

And these...

Looks like a cute movie! And amazing cast/voices too!!

"Racing Stripes Premise/Synopsis:
A tale of an abandoned baby zebra named Stripes (Frankie Muniz) that grows up on a Kentucky farm believing he's a racehorse. With the help of barnyard friends he overcomes prejudice and self-doubt to pursue his dream of running with the thoroughbreds."

Luscious scenery!! Funnily, what with the hills and the greenery reminds me alot of where I live in South West UK!!
