Hi thereI was wondering if any of you guys have someone you admire, you respect and you look up to? More like a mentor? And I am not talking about celebrities but rather ordinary people! I do! I met him through college last year. He is amazing, I admire and respect him tremedously. And he is helpful beyond belief! I have spoken about him on several occasions on this site before. I believe that not many people meet someone they can honestly say that they have met their mentor-as one would say- but fortunately for me I have, and I am ever so grateful that I have. It is a wonderful feeling when you realise everyday that there is someone out there that you look up to-it just makes the world a better place! Even better you can speak to this person whenever you want to. So if you have met someone you admire, let's share our thoughts on them. IP: Logged |

What a great idea!!!The person that I admire, admires me right back. He and I met almost 5 years ago while in college. It was his first time to college and his first time of living in the States. I was going back to school at that time. I had never met anyone that pushed me to be my best and I did the same for him....to this day, I believe in him and that one day he will make his dreams come true.... If it wasn't for him I would have given up and given in....thank God for people like him in the world....The funny thing is that he feels the same about me..... IP: Logged |

Yes! I have a mentor! Or did, he is still around though but I feel like we may now be on equal terms (this is probably a good thing too I think it means I've grown). But he came around at the point where I was just entering life besides high school and needed someone to show me the ropes so I could become independent and not so lost, and I saw that he had his crap together and we just naturally bonded. Over the past 5 years I've stayed under his wing when things were just too confusing or I didn't know what to do and he's guided me along with good advice and then sends me along to try out whatever it was I was too scared to do. If it wasn't for him I probably would not have finished college, I probably would not have done 2 years of fun college radio, and I probably would not have put together a 7 band festival for the hardcore/metal kids in my area. He also shared music industry secrets with me and showed the networking really isn't as hard as the world makes it seem. And he's always optimistically pushed along even in the darkest of times, very headstrong which is inspiration to me. He even offered when I was going to NYC for the first time to show me around and he gave me a full-blown tour! :-) Seriously if it wasn't for him having acted as a guide the past 5 years I think I'd be living in a cardboard box totally given up on life by now. Great thread - I have someone I admire, my music teacher, Liam. He is one of the nicest people I ever met and a fantastic fiddle player. He is teaching me to play, read music and encourages me to sing. Although hes only a year older, I look up to him. We are both Scorps and mirror each other a lot. I cant wait until later on coz I am gonna listen to him playing in the pub, and if I get brave will sing too. xIP: Logged |

At the moment I admire John Kerry for standing up for what he believes in, going against the majority, and letting the truth be known. His continuing attacks on the Bush admin give me faith that liberals aren't dead yet. He's still fighting for the ordinary man, and for peace and justice, even though he lost the election. This man represent jupterian values in a very high form, truth, opennness, freedom, fighting for what's equal etc.IP: Logged |
