What do you guys think of smacking children. Do you think there is a difference between hitting a child and an adult, and would you be annoyed if your child hit someone else, even though you hit them when they were younger. Would be interested to hear your views - love Sue xx

I spank my kids, occasionally. Not very often anymore, really. They're never really naughty enough to warrent spanking.

When they were smaller, I used spanking as a last resort, or if their saftey was in question.

I do not believe hauling off and hitting your children is okay.

I believe the children should be told:

"If ________ happens again, I will have to spank you.:

They know it is a consequence. It becomes their choice.

I believe you should never spank while you're angry. If you have warned the child, and they know it's coming, I feel it is appropriate to wait out your anger or frustration at before spanking the child. PLUS, this gives them some time to really sweat what's coming.

Should you ever spank someone else's child?

HELL NO!

I have never spanked my niece or nephew. I have informed the parent of the behavior (I may believe should result in spanking), and leave the rest up to them.
